... sort of. Saying "sources can be wrong" is different from saying, "my source was wrong."
I also give Bill credit for issuing that statement. Normally they never comment on media reports about internal affairs, even when the reports make Bill or the team look bad. But this is a case where the report mainly casts a bad light on the player and could damage his reputation and cost him dollars in the future. Its nice they made an exception here to protect Dobson.

I spoke to Dobson for a couple minutes. He heard about the story, immediately spoke to Belichick about it to express concern.
I think Belichick would normally ignore something like this, but it bothered Dobson so BB went to bat for his player. He doesn't get enough credit in this area; when's the last time you heard him throw someone under the bus? It's always, "we need to play better, coach better."
