With the rule 5 draft being cancelled, NY gets to definitely hold onto a set of interesting players, some of whom could even potentially help them this season (Nestor Cortes wasn't on the 40 man to start last season, for instance). They of course wouldn't have lost all of these guys, but I bet they would have lost a few.

Brandon Lockridge: a fast 24 year old CF who broke out offensively in AA last year with a .940 OPS in 174 ABs.
Anthony Garcia: not protected because he is so far away still, but he is a 21 year old 1B with 80 grade power, 14 HRs in 121 ABs between rookie ball and low A this year.
Josh Breaux: 24 year old C who ended the year in AA, good hitter but dubious defender.
Michael Beltre: a super fast AA OF who Alex Chamberlain really likes (https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/2021-peripheral-prospect-shortlist-hitters/).

Matt Krook: 27 year old SP who NY grabbed from TB in last year's rule 5 minor league draft, 2.89 ERA in 106 innings between AA and AAA.
Greg Weissert: probably the next reliever in line to be protected, a 27 year old righty with a 1.64 ERA in 49.1 innings between AA and AAA, .166 BAA allowed.

Lockridge/Beltre help the emergency OF depth, Krook/Weissert more pitching depth waiting at AAA, Garcia/Breaux another year to develop to possibly win a 40 man spot next winter, nice that all will be sticking around.
