Not if the Sox don't win today. :-/
Presumably if he's going to pitch, it's only to avoid the tiebreak game. Which the Red Sox outcome today doesn't change that unless you think the Orioles are going to rally down 8-1.

It’s Taillon apparently. Not much confidence in Wacha but you never know.
Wonder if they are hoping the Rays rest players. I 100% believe Toronto will win tomorrow so you really do need to win to avoid the tiebreak. Same goes for the Red Sox.

As has been mentioned though, with 28 man rosters instead of 40, you can only rest so many.
For sure most of their starters will play. But where it shows is that Cash won't overuse relievers or whatever in a desperate attempt to get a win. But Wacha and the position players in the game will all try hard for sure.

So, the Giants blew a late lead today and lost to San Diego, with the Dodgers currently up 3-1 on Milwaukee in the 4th, the NL West could be really, really interesting tomorrow.

Mitch Hanniger is the hero so far tonight -- rbi single and now a 2-run homer puts Seattle up 3-1 in the 5th.

Urias is set up to be the NL’s first 20 game winner since Scherzer in 2016.

VORPSpeed says that Cash's plan for the weekend was to give the starters 3 innings just to keep them fresh, then bullpen it the rest of the way

Kelenick (sp?) just got screwed on a 3-2 count with runners at the corners and 2 outs.

Not particularly close pitch called a strike.

The Giants could lose tomorrow and not win the west which they led essentially all season. They then could lose the playoff to LA on Monday, and lose the WC game to St. Louis on Tuesday. 106 wins and it could be over that fast. Brutal.

And then Flexen just got totally screwed on a pitch well inside the zone, which led to an infield single, first and second, 1 out, and him getting pulled.

Pedro was right (as usual).

Totally, that would be pretty brutal.

Interestingly, it's actually something older Giants fans might be familiar with -- the 1993 Giants won 103 games thanks to their big free agent acquisition and NL MVP Barry Bonds, but the Braves won 104 and won the NL West. It was the last season before the Wild Card. I believe the '93 Giants hold the record for most wins without making the playoffs of any MLB team.

Sort of like the 1978 Red Sox, who won 99 games and a Bucky Bleeping Dent HR later were sent golfing.

I find it impossible to root against these Mariners and their fans.

The stadium that should be called Safeco is packed and the fans are LOUD and thrilled to be watching a relevant team this late in the season. Good for them.

In the divisional era, yes. The 1909 Cubs and 1942 Dodgers each won 104 (in 154 game seasons) and missed out. The 1954 Yankees won 103 and finished 8 back of Cleveland.

Good call, I should have scrolled down further.

Jeez, talk about the '42 Dodgers running into the wrong team and the Cardinals always being the Cardinals: "Even winning their final eight games wasn't enough, as the Cardinals won 12 of their final 13."

Honesty, I'm not sure it helps the Sox much if they lose. I feel like the Jays are a pretty good bet to win tomorrow. Which means that if the Sox win, they're in, and if the Sox lose, they're probably playing a one-game playoff regardless. So the only thing the Mariners could change would be who and where the Sox play in a one-game playoff.

So...don't feel guilty about pulling for them!
