I already talked about Mark Whiten and Tony Clark in the previous thread. I'm sure we're going to have plenty of over-the-hill guys here (Gary Gaetti, anyone?).
I'll go with him, too. David Wells, Byung-hyun Kim and Wil Cordero were around just a bit too long to make the cut.AJ Pierzynski
Man I hated that guy
Absolutely. Completely worthless as a player then outed as a steroid user shortly after.Eric Gagne quickly comes to mind.
Watching as a mere lad, Buddin, bad as he may have been, was a mainstay of bad defense and no hitting for a few yearsDon Buddin.

Remy's pronunciation of his name added SOMETHING to his tenure with the Sox. "Rent-a-Rear." Sounds like an escort service.Edgar Renteria
The 2001 roster wasn't much better (some of that due to carry over). It was incredible that a team centered around Pedro and Nomar at their peaks could bring me to the brink of abandoning them in disgust, but those rosters did (the front office/ownership didn't help and I generally didn't mind Duquette). Thankfully, the team was sold when it was.Just look at the 2000 roster. Gaetti, Sprague, Manny Alexander, Rico Brogna, Midre Cummings. Jesus.
Dan Duquette is a guy I like a lot more than most of this board. But Pedro should be allowed to throw fastballs at his testicles for an hour after putting that team around him in 2000.
(nevermind that he made a trade for a couple guys that were around longer than a year that I also hate - Arrojo and the loathsome Mike Lansing.

Gomes was kind of an important figure on the 2013 team, wasn't he?Jonny Gomes (one and a half seasons) and Mike Macfarlane.
I'm sorry but one of those definitely does not belong with the others.Jonny Gomes (one and a half seasons) and Mike Macfarlane.
Well, yeah, but this a pretty subjective thread. It's your "least favorite," not who is "the worst." Like Jeff Gray was a decent relief pitcher for the Red Sox and had better seasons than most who came through the Sox bullpen during his tenure (90-91) but I hated the guy. It took him five years to throw a pitch and because I was young I was never allowed to stay up and see the end of a game in which he pitched.Gomes was kind of an important figure on the 2013 team, wasn't he?
Both of us mentioned that.AJP by a mile
(Cordero was here two years, folks)
He had the uncanny ability to look like an All-Star, except for clutch situations (mishandling or throwing away a routine grounder in the 9th) when he looked like a refuge from a beer league.Watching as a mere lad, Buddin, bad as he may have been, was a mainstay of bad defense and no hitting for a few years
This is my answer.Bobby V
I see what you did there. Two years but still he was such a low-life scum while he was here, one has to mention Will Cordero.
Edit: Beaten to it.
This deserves a hand clap. Two years but still he was such a low-life scum while he was here, one has to mention Will Cordero.

Man, Nick Cafardo loved himself some Bobby V. Even when the season was flying off the rails and it became absolutely clear to everyone that Bobby Valentine was not suited to be the manager of this nine, Nick Cafardo was flying the Bobby V. flag high. It was the ownership's fault, it was Cherrington's fault, it was the player's fault, it was even the media's (aside from him, of course) fault. But never, ever, ever was it that charismatic Bobby Valentine's fault.Bobby V's tenure reminds me a lot of Trump's election and subsequent tenure. I recall thinking that Cafardo was out of his mind (per usual) to suggest V as a Tito replacement. With this ownership group, I really thought there was no way he'd be hired. Then, he was and most of us thought immediately it would be a disaster which turned out to be correct. This included open rebellion, leaked reports of in-fighting, insubordination, ego-mongering, the difficulty to get along with other decision-makers, and so on.
Yep. Close it down.Eric Gagne quickly comes to mind.

And he managed to piss everyone off in spring training with that bullshit with the coaches and then calling out Youk in April. This is my answer.
Christ, he sucked. I knew that before he ever arrived, and man, did he confirm it in spades during his short time here. Blah.
