You guys should have seen him playing catch with some kid in the stands last night, during the same game he hit two bombs and robbed another. He really can do it all.
And hit a third off the wall!
That catch was insane, up their with his best ever, he was way over the wall.
Amazing how the visual of Judge being a monster size guy is brought down a toe. You don't realize how important it is until you hurt one.

Yup. Wish he Nelson Cruz’d that ball. Great catch but you can’t be slamming into walls at that size, especially in some random June game.
Definitely agree given the result, but I think the particular setup there just made it worse / somewhat unlucky, with the way the door opened making the ledge more prominent and put more pressure on his toe. Probably hard to make that mental calculation in a stadium you never play in while you're in the process of making a game-saving catch.
It just sucks, maybe MLB will figure out the lost revenue from a missed large-market MVP candidate season and see if its on par with the cost of injury-proofing that old ledge.
Probably, but honestly all season, since he signed the massive deal and was officially named captain, he was trying too hard to do everything he could to help the team win, on and off the field. The off the field stuff is a bit dangerous in its own way as a person can only deal with so much, and in baseball you really need to focus on your own game, but on the field, he was lucky he didn't get hurt before this as he made a bunch of 'no regard for his body' plays like that that he walked away from unscathed. Someone needs to pound into his head the concept of 'losing the battle but winning the war'.
Yes, it’s analogous to getting quarterbacks to slide or run out of bounds to avoid contact. But especially for guys like Judge or Josh Allen who became successful playing intensely and without lasting physical consequences, it’s tough to shift to that protective mindset.
So... are the Yankees sellers at the trading deadline? This team looks entirely different without Judge. I'm talking last place in the AL East with no chance at the Wild Card different.

They haven't had Rodon all season and he should be back in a couple of weeks, and the schedule in the second half is weaker. The offense is a disaster right now though.

Fair enough. The loss of Judge is obviously huge. He's in scoring position when he's brushing his teeth in the morning.
Reminded me of the scene in "The Natural" where outfielder Bump Bailey dies running through the outfield wall.
As much as I enjoy the Yankees cutting huge checks to someone who isn't playing, I absolutely hate that it's Judge. Seems like a class act and definitely a huge part of MLB right now - similar to Ohtani. Neither is on my team, but I'm happy to see them succeed.
Yanks could pull a Spurs. The Spurs lose David Robinson to injury, basically tank afterward, and then get lucky and win the draft lottery and get Tim Duncan.

Congratulations to Judge. It’s a great award (and, not to hijack the thread, seeing it mentioned brought back fond memories of Tim Wakefield).

and so as to not pollute another thread, I have seen two US sports team logos in 5 days in New Zealand so far, other than in stores that sell sports clothing and in the mirror: Two Raiders shirts, and a good dozen NYY hats.

I like to see nice things happen to good guys. For example, I was happy he was able to go to a world series.
