Tomorrow is supposed to be Opening Day, Sox at Jays.

Tomorrow is gonna hurt.

Missing practice games sucks, but missing real games is worse

I guess this is going to be the game thread for the Real Opening Day.

Was thinking of that this morning. Usually have a day out at my local for opening day, getting together with the crew I share some season tix with. Weird feeling, and a shitty one, not doing it tomorrow. Obviously pales in comparison to people really struggling with all this, but still.

All the games (ie. Red Sox game on redsox.com, Cubs game on Cubs.com etc.) are wins for the team/site in question.

I'm starting to think about buying MLB The Show for the first time in like 8 years to get a baseball fix... Aside from playing games, can just have it simulate things and "tune in"...

Looking forward to win 25-30, and then steal the WS on Evoo's back and shoulders (and arm).

Sucks that I won’t be able to watch the game tonight. Unintended consequence of getting rid of my cable here in Virginia.
MASN isn’t on my YTTV or any streaming service, and didn’t even think about that until I realized the opener was against the O’s...oh well. I’ll see if I can find a radio feed, listen to the game while playing The Show and hopefully will make for a good night with the Sox getting off to a great start.

I’m in the same situation every time the Sox play the Yankees (except for nationally televised games).

Live Major League Baseball that counts! I always love Opening Day and that first week. It always kills me when the first day is followed by a day off, because I'm so excited to see how the team will perform. No expectation from me this season other than some entertainment and diversion from the COVID cases exploding around me here in Austin TX. Maybe Verdugo will show himself to be All-star caliber. Maybe Rafi takes it to yet another level, maybe an unheard of pitcher dominates the 6th inning. Maybe Eovaldi's arm falls off mid-pitch. Who knows, (what's that Kevin?) "Anything is possible!"

I've been kind of unsure about how I would feel when sports actually came back, given everything going on in the world. I don't know that I will care about the outcomes very much, or live and die by the daily events like I normally would, so in that sense, I probably care much less than I would about a normal opening day. However, the idea of having a Sox game playing in the background while I get dinner ready and do dishes and such, is just so damn soothing when we need it most. Bring. It. On.

Going to be unapologetically rocking out to the intro music on the NESN broadcast in a few hours here... let's see if the color commentator(s?) can stop me from switching to Park Sounds thereafter to kill O'Brien's voice.

1/60 (!) Out in the Midwest, we're grilling up Italian sausage and brats because what's a home if it doesn't smell like Lansdowne. Also keeping score in my scorebook to mark the start of a quirky season. Win!

Finally some baseball in the evenings. Interesting side note- Rays expecting to set a new opening day attendance record today.

I'm in the same boat. MASN isn't available from any providers here so I'm blacked out of O's/Nats/Braves/Reds games. This is why illegal streams exist...

This is exactly where I am. Out of every sport, baseball is the one I've been missing the most. Having games to watch every day while doing chores/work, or to unwind a little bit instead of falling into the Netflix black hole has already energized me. Let's fucking go.

I turned on the game last night right at the start and actually said the following words out loud: "I hope Fauci gets a standing ovation."

I am not sure I am prepared for crowdless baseball but it is better than nothing.

"better than nothing" is a good slogan for this baseball season, especially for what portends to be a rough one for the Sox.

Much respect to the Rays' attendance line.

WIN!

I hate the later starting time. What reasons did mlb give for this? I got used to going to bed early this summer and I'll be missing a lot of these.
pretty sure it was a sox/nesn decision to try to get a little more ad money and not an mlb one

I totally forgot they signed Pillar. Also, after Evo and Perez who are the starters on the team? According to rotoworld Weber is in there, then they list Sale and Rodriguez and no one else

As @rodderick said, this pretty much sums my feeling too...there is so much that seems more important right now. But I was running an errand earlier today and found myself close to Fenway and had to go by...definitely not a normal opening Day scene.

This season is going to be a weird one. But goddamn - I am ready for some baseball.

Let's see what these guys can do.
