Cone saying that the spin rate on all of Scherzer's pitches is decidedly down, clearly he is not a hundred percent, so why did he start tonight instead of DeGrom?

That should do it for this game. Mets are glad it's not one and done this year. Time to pull Max I would think.

Buck rewarding the veteran ace instead of giving the ball to today's best pitcher?

I hope they're just hiding / letting a blister heal more. Trying to scrape by this series wihout deGrom is arrogance... they won't have a choice now.

In the history of baseball, a runner held at third who would have scored but for an automatic double bounding into the stands, the run has never gone on to score. Not once. Ever.

I should say though that I made that up.

For one of you guys that is a rules expert — would there be any way that both Machado and Showalter can lose this series?

SD's game 2 starter Blake Snell has been in an incredible groove his last four starts, a combined 25 10 2 2 6 32, a 0.72 ERA against ARI, STL, LAD and CHW. The Mets need dominant DeGrom back in a hurry tomorrow or they will finish one of the most catastrophic nine day stretches ever in franchise history.

I’m enjoying Met’s and Met’s fan suffering. Always have, always will.

Let’s go Friars!
Yeah gee, what a shame, heartbreaking really.

How any true Red Sox fan can root for the Mets is beyond my comprehension.

Being born too young to remember 1986/becoming a fan in 2004 is a wonderful thing.

Mutual hatred of the Yankees makes this easy for me. 1986 was four Championships ago for the Sox.
Two outs, two strikes, up by two runs....................

While it's great they have won not one, not two, not three, but four WS titles since is a dream come true, but I think of my two grandfathers and my two uncles, all diehard Red Sox fans who never got to see them win one, never mind four.

The odds of them blowing that lead, game and series were what, a billion to one, yet it happened.

Fuck the Mets.

I'm just barely old enough to remember '86 (I was 8) and though it was traumatic, I have no hard feelings towards the Mets. Fuck the Padres and Machado especially.

I'm the same age as you, but I pretty vividly remember the pain of game 6. I will always hold it against the Mets.

However...if the Mets win another title, that will make Yankee fans (at least the ones I know IRL) big mad. So that's a strong, strong positive.

They are in the low-mid table of my rooting interest of the current playoff teams, but they have a path to getting me to root for them.
