He’s a little old for that. I’m thinking the Scherzer model (3 years, high AAV).
I doubt it, he’s 3 years younger than Scherzer was a year ago; and I’m sure his reps will play up the considerably less mileage in his arm (that’s why my Mets fans always say when trying to convince me that deGrom will pitch forever and make the HOF even though he has like 80 career wins).

At 34, the play should be to get as long a deal as he can.

At worst / best, something like 4/$140 seems likely. Would the Red Sox be in on something like that?

Scherzer has been a horse though, super durable. I don’t want the Sox to go to 5 years, but I’m not sure I’m not sure the bidding goes that high. We shall see, I’ve been proven wrong on contracts many times before.

Same, it will be interesting. DeGrom really just had the last two years of injuries although it feels like more. You are right that Scherzer has never really been hurt, but DeGrom is probably the better pitcher. I am not sure I would want to win the bidding for him, frankly. A lot of articles seem to suggest the Braves could be the front runner although maybe that’s designed to draw the Mets ire.

I don't think DeGrom will be at all cheap; after the results of this series, I think Cohen only lets DeGrom go elsewhere for a ridiculous offer

Just so you all know, the rumor in NY has been that deGrom isn't looking for the highest offer, he wants to finish his career where he's happiest, near home in Atlanta. This has mostly come from Olney. If true, nobody really stands a shot besides the Mets I would guess.

660 is going to be a riot tomorrow. Every producer has to figure out how to squeeze in the Giants, Jets, Chapman, and the Mets. I have a feeling it’s gonna be baseball pretty much all day.

I mean, we know he came in when the team was down and they played his entrance every single time. That alone doesn't make it cringe. They weren't going to let Mariano run to the mound with no music. But we didn't have a mascot playing trumpets and the crowd going crazy over it.
This is correct.

Playing intro music didn’t make last night odd. Having the mascot pretend to blare on a trumpet and dance around like a lunatic while the crowd got fired up? Very, very odd.

I was at a Mets game in July, the mascots w/ trumpets is (was? he's a FA now!) every appearance for Diaz.
