Canes up 3-1 after 2. There is a scenario where the Bruins can lock in Carolina, albeit a low percentage one. BOS OT/SOL, Tampa win, Carolina win, Caps reg loss, Pens any loss.

Pasta is rusty (understandable) but the PP is just lacking good execution and decision-making right now.

They need one to go on off someone’s ass then they will be fine. Stick Forbort out there net front or something.

Brookline
Solid defensive effort and they made some slick scoring plays. Hall looks ready to have a big postseason.

Bruins get Carolina unless we win both remaining games and Tampa loses their two in regulation.
I believe Tampa can lose one non-regulation game (109 pts) and the B's could still catch them on a tiebreaker. But any two points for the Bolts will lock them in with Toronto.

Three head to head matchups this year...not so good for Boston.

Oct 28, 2021 Boston 0, Carolina 3
Jan 18, 2022 Carolina 7, Boston 1
Feb 10, 2022 Carolina 6, Boston 0

Carolina is 3-0 vs Boston, with a net +/- of +15 (!!!!). That's nuts. Small sample size, yes, but holy smokes they've utterly dominated the Bruins this year.

Carolina will definitely be favorites in this series, and they should be, but I would argue that this is a very different Bruins team. They added an impact two way defenseman at the deadline. The forward group is much deeper with the emergence of the Haula-Pastrnak-Hall line, and DeBrusk playing well as the RW with Bergeron and Marchand. And in net, they have Ullmark playing his best hockey of the season, Swayman behind him, and they’re not trying to find minutes for a goalie who has a career ending injury like they were doing in that 7-1 game.

Another thing about the January 18th game was that it was the first game after a stretch of 9 games in fifteen days for the Bruins. In the February game the B's were missing both Bergeron and Marchand (it was the game right after the Jarry incident). That's not to handwave away their worrisome effort in those games or that maybe the Canes are a particularly difficult matchup, but these sorts of ambushes happen a lot in the ebbs and flows of the regular season and there's a coincidence factor that it ended up being the Canes for a couple of them.

The other option at this point is Toronto. Either way, it's going to be a trial-by-fire in the first round. But as has been the case with this team, I believe if they play up to their full potential they can beat any team in this league in a seven game series.

I was wondering... what is the rule on that... the sabres player chopped at the broken stick to move it, and it then ended up disrupting the bruins pass...

I wonder what kind of odds you could have gotten on Marchand being in the top 10 of Bruins all time scorers after his first season?

Not watching but see that Buffalo appears to have spent a full third of the game so far with a man advantage. What gives?
Marchand got away with 3 slashes in a row basically and the ref finally got tired adn called it... the other were sticks in the wrong spot to trip guys basically...

the slashes weren't horrible, but just doing that many in a row finally got the ref to react especially since it was in the offensive zone and led to a turnover...
