My wife's boss has other plans, so I just inherited his two tickets to tonight's game.

Last Pats game I went to was in 2007 (took my son to the Pats-Eagles game, where he nearly got us killed by wearing his Eagles stuff when the crowd realized the Pats might lose...). I can't even remember where I parked then, anyway.

I presume a lot has changed. Anyone willing to share tips on where to park? If it makes a difference, I expect to leave the western suburbs around 630pm, probably go down 27 to get there.

Expect to spend $40-$50. The stadium lots are hit or miss as far as how quickly you'll be able to get out of them at the end of the game. In my experience as far as the official Gillette lots go, the lots on the side of the road with the stadium are less likely to completely screw you at the end of the night than P10 which is on the other side. Your best bet is to park in a non stadium lot about a mile walk up rt.1. Once you get under two miles, there are a couple motels that open up their parking lots for $40 and you will not get boxed in. The 10-15 minute walk will save you 45-hour at the end of the game. Unfortunately I can't remember if you want to come in southbound or northbound...your options are pretty much determined for you depending on which side of the stadium you enter route one on. Perhaps someone knows what I'm talking about and can specify.

Park a mile north on the northbound site of Rte 1. Bring your slicker!

If you are coming down Rte 27, park at the McDonalds at the corner of Rt 1 and Water St. After the game, you can sneak onto Water st out of the parking lot, take a right onto Washington St, and that will run you up to 27 in Walpole to then head home. You never have to drive on Rte 1 and it's a godsend. I've used this plan to make it home to Southie in 30 mins after the final whistle. The walk to/fro the stadium isn't bad either.

I went last Monday and parked next to the Lafayette House. I took 495 and then some backroads and entered the lot off of Pine Street. I think it was $50 but we completely avoided Rte. 1 and hit no traffic getting to and leaving the stadium. Probably took an 45 minutes to an hour to get back to the 90/95 exit.

OK, this seems like a good plan, as do the motels on the northbound side of Route 1. I expect I'll try that and if there's no space, just take an immediate left on Route 1 and grab the first motel parking lot I come across.

Quick question if anyone knows the answer--how good is my chance of finding a spot in the McD's parking lot if I get there at 715?

Park on the side of Rte 1 that is the direction you head home, not the way you arrive.
What do you mean? Traffic only flows one way after games (away from the stadium). So it doesn't matter which side of the street you park on. However, it greatly matters which side of the stadium you park on (north or south).

As to the McDonalds parking lot I'm not sure how it will be but I'd think you'll be ok. I remember getting there around 6:30ish 2 years ago for the Packers game and it was ok. Not positive though.

Best kept secret out there. This is the correct answer

Do all of private lots tend to allow tailgating?

What is the deal with parking north vs south of the stadium? Headed to Gillette, for the first time, for the Broncos, coming from Maine, staying at Country Suites on Rt 27 in Brockton Sun nite.

Personal experience warning:

I live in NH, but used to live closer to Boston in years past.  Back in that time, I'd park north of the stadium, and head up 1 to 95.  It was alway, ALWAYS, a nightmare.  Now I just cruise all the way down 495, park south of the stadium, and meet with only occasional traffic on the road leaving the stadium. (Note that depending on where you end up in a parking lot, and what time you leave the game, you can spend more time getting OUT of the lot than you do getting to the highway.)

If you're staying on 27 then you can park either north or south.  Pull out a Google Map -- you can go north to 95 then south down 24, or you can go across on 27, or you can go south to 495 and over and up 24

Inbox me and we can coordinate something. I live on North Street (a few houses from the back gate enterance via Putnam way). So you can avoid Rt 1 and take the back roads.
