I want Jamie Newman...
The guy is one year of not playing away from being a potential first round pick... he's free, go get him, and now there is zero pressure, if he can pick stuff up you can stash him for year, if he can't no loss. Even if he just turns out ok and Jones is amazing, a cheap backup with upside is nice to have.

Newman signed with the Eagles per Twitter.

Can we get Josh Imatorbhebhe, just on the off-chance that someday Jerry Remy has to pronounce it

As a Wake fan, since we can’t get Newman I say we get Sage Surratt.
The Wikipedia had him at Tampa, now lists him with Atlanta.
And now twitter has him in Detroit

Wake Forest WR Sage Surratt signing with Detroit Lions per agency
@_SportsTrust
. Had him pegged as a potential fit with them waiting on WRs, and there you go.

I do wonder if the Patriots are going to struggle to get guys in the first round of signings given their very limited roster space

So if you’re an agent - do you try to steer your clients away from NE given the current depth of the roster? Or does Bill’s history of giving roster spots to UDFAs offset that?

I think it depends... if I'm a guy who has a top tier UDFA.... I probably want my guy going someplace he's got less competition. If I have a 2nd tier guy I like NE, especially if he's a DB, because even if he gets cut someone else might scoop him up given the success of UDFA CBs the Pats have brought to camp, either those they kept or those they let go who someone else scooped.

If you’re a corner and you see how BB developed and got paychecks for Jackson and Butler, why wouldn’t you come here?

Marvin Wilson went from being a day 1-2 pick last year to a UDFA this year.

It appears that the Pats are the only team to have announced zero UDFA signings. That's very odd.

I looks like Borregales is with the Bucs (according to mwonow's link).
I had Borregales and the Navy CB Kinley on my Pats draft contest list. Both were signed by TB. I thought the Navy kid was a lock as an UDFA for Belichick. The Falcons have already signed 16 UDFA including the Arkansas QB Feleipe Franks.

Allegedly the amount of players available is a lot less than normal. Perhaps a lot of them are staying or got an extra year of eligibility due to the oddball schedule.

And honestly the Pats have a lot fewer needs this year. As it is, they’ll have to jettison a bunch of quality players.

No UDFAs this year makes some sense. Deep roster, shallow draft, have to give guaranteed $ to get priority UDFAs, save the cap space.

There are lots of different takes on this. I always start with: (1) who called (scouting assistant, director of college scouting, position coach, etc.); and (2) what did he say (about competition, number of guys at the position, what vets are they hoping to replace, etc.)? Those two things tell you a lot. Basically, the team will tell you what you need to know if you know how to listen.

Surprised they haven't signed a kicker yet. Folk was great last year, but he's still 37 and only has a year left on his contract. If they can stash someone on the practice squad with a big leg to potentially be ready to takeover the job in a year that would be nice.

They've got Roberto Aguayo for camp competition for Folk for now. It's a position they can cycle through as well.

The FCS just wrapped up their quarterfinals this past weekend. I would think that there is at least a handful of players from those FCS teams that were still playing that were either draftable in a normal year or at least worth taking a look at as UDFAs. So it wouldn’t be a shock if we see some UDFAs signed much later then normal

The NFL could allow those players in the supplemental draft. The supplemental draft was cancelled in 2020, but I haven't heard anything one way or another this year. If it happens it will probably be mid-July.

Nordin has a very strong leg, but has absolutely no idea where the ball is going from one kick to the next. He had a disappointing career given his recruiting profile. I have to think he’s just a camp leg because there is nothing in his history to suggest he is any threat to either folk or Aguayo.
