Wouldn't be surprised if this is a very short thread...but I suspect we add at least one more player, albeit likely some value guys.

And I would love if they can keep Andrews...

I bet this is the day we see some trades to get some of last year's roster out while they have some value before becoming nothing once cutdown day comes in september

i agree there is likely going to be some less glamorous transactional moves in the background...which I fully support if it means more cap room

As much as I would be happy with Andrews re-signing, I’m hoping the Pats can snag Rodney Hudson.

Hudson's going to be 32 this summer and Andrews is only going to be 29. Andrews might be the safer bet.

How about Hudson on a 1 or 2 year deal with a plan to draft either Humphrey, Dickerson or Meinerz (my favorite)?

Maybe in a few years but I’d rather have Hudson for the next two, at least. He’s a much better player.

That's fair. I'm not especially familiar with Hudson. Hope they at least get one of them.

Back last summer, ESPN polled a group of 50 NFL folks comprised of team executives, coaches, scouts and players about the best interior linemen in the league. Hudson ranked 6th overall among all guards/centers.

PFF has also rated him the league's best center over the past 5 years.

It would also be nice at this point if they retain whatever core guys they can. They have to incorporate a lot of new faces in important spots, the guys who have played for Belichick for several years already will help reinforce the culture for those incoming guys.

The flipside is that the upgrade from Andrews to Hudson would mitigate any downgrade from losing Thuney in the interior.

What's "Plan C" if they lose out on both Hudson and Andrews? Seems like the group of C's in this year's draft isn't particularly overwhelming.

Mixed feelings on the reports they'd consider bringing in another receiver. The overall talent level is still pretty low so they could definitely use one, but I'm really not all that enamored with anyone in this free agent class. Golladay is very good but the injury stuff last year was weird (I also can't imagine he wants to be in the same building as Matt Patricia again). Samuel is a good player they should have signed instead of Agholor but he's not a #1. Juju hasn't been incredibly impressive without AB across from him. Fuller looked fantastic last year so I might be underrating him - during the Hopkins years I thought he was a bit of a 1 trick pony. Wouldn't hate seeing John Brown brought in for cheap, but it'd have to be cheap given his health track record. In short I'd like to see another WR brought in before camp but I'd way prefer it's through the draft given what's out there.

They're very different players, Agholor was brought in to be a deep threat, Samuel isn't really a straight line field stretcher.

I think Higgins s a guy who makes sense to add to the mix if his price is low.

I like Higgins as a WR3 but there seems to be some redundancy with Meyers in that role. They are very similar types of players.

How about Duke Johnson on a cheap deal to fill the James White role?

Nick Martin?
Been a starter for Houston. Other than that I don't know much about him

I think JJ Taylor might be part of the plan there. I know he didn't catch a pass in 2020 and at 5'6" there are obviously size concerns, but his college stats at Arizona were roughly similar to White's at Wisconsin (both ended up ~30 receptions their Senior season), and their combine stats are almost eerily similar (Taylor vs. White: 4.61 40 vs. 4.57 40, 7.00 vs. 7.05 in 3 cone, 8.25" hands vs. 8" hands -- odd that Taylor's are larger, 4.15 20 yard shuffle vs. 4.20 20 yard shuffle).

I think I'd be comfortable heading into training camp with Harris/Michel/Taylor, a draft pick, and a UDFA or two. And if old pal Dion Lewis wants to sign a super short (pun intended) money deal, all the better.

Seems Bill has gone back to his old ways. We get two good days after a dark couple of months.

It truly is a hard time to be a Pats fan.

How does Karras grade out the last two seasons? My eyes tell me he was average at best in 19 (really struggled in the screen game and the snap issues were obvious).

Would love to see an Impact WR. With the 2 TE we will only have 2 WRs on the Field most of the time. I would rather have a .50 Piece and Dime/quarter then A dimes and a quarter. (and we already have the dime and Quarter so it would be a quarter and .50 Cent Piece most of the time).

Is there one?
This is a great point. End of the day, the reason the elite WRs arent moving is because they want "Best in Show" money and they just arent worth it.

Robinson was the closest thing to a sure fire break the bank highest paid WR ever type that could have been out there. Golliday is probably asking at the Cooper+ (20 mill) level. And thats a problem because 1- I dont think he is a 20 mill player and with the cap, I dont know if many teams could even pay it.

Golliday needs to set the market at I suspect he will eventually land with the Giants at ~17 mill per (maybe 5 yrs 85 mill or something), and then the rest of the tier 1 guys will follow accordingly in the 11-16 range. But thats just my own guess
