We all need to go to sleep and let Miguel figure out the cap implications of all this.

HOLY CRAP. The Pats are just going frigging NUTS.

Belichick is like giving my wife an unlimited budget and five hours to go spend money in Home Goods.

Wow. The Pats have arguably upgraded at five positions this off-season so far.

He's CRUSHING it. And honestly, given all the young guys they drafted the past couple of years that have stuck on the team, he could basically spend all of this year's draft to trade up for Lance and I'd 100% be good with it.

Both Bourne and Agholor are MUCH better than *any* WR they had on the roster. Neither is as good as an elite WR1, but they just improved SIGNIFICANTLY at THREE pass-catching positions: WR1, WR2, and TE.

Use the cap for every conceivable need and blow your draft wad on Fields or Lance.

I love it if it happens.

Hadn't heard about the Hightower restructure. Apparently it saves $6m this year.

Which hopefully means that defenses will pay attention to them and make James White Useful Again.

This is how my wife and I used to do Christmas shopping when we were younger -- "I don't care, dammit, we're not going back home until we've bought something for everyone on the list ... then we're not going into a store until January"

White will be really useful for Tampa. That's where I think he'll end up. But either way, the offense is MUCH improved already, and that's without anyone from the draft. Also... Edelman could be sneaky good this coming year especially if he doesn't play all the time, keeping him fresh.

Bourne definitely seems like the Patriots type - ran a 4.68 40, but had the 4th fastest 3-cone time among WR in 2017 combine (6.73).

Watch what happens with Gilmore and Jackson. If one of them moves for a 2d or 3rd, that’s BB loading up for a Herschel Walker type offer to move up to QB territory. (Cincinnati at 5 as I said before?.) So what happens then? A bidding war for the Miami selection? JVille and the Jets likely take Lawrence and Wilson. Whoever gets the Miami pick takes Fields or Lance. That would take 3 off the table, and Atlanta at 4 would take whoever is left.

So, if you’re BB do you take the chance? Would Atlanta be open to a deal like that?

I absolutely love this signing. Bourne is a great player. Very good hands, always seems to find a way to get open.

Bourne and Agholor as every down guys with Edelman in the situational role as a 3rd WR to keep him healthy for the plays when you really need him sounds pretty nice

I've maintained since last year - I think BB keeps Gilmore. Hes not trying to build for the future. Dude only has a few years left to catch Shula. With the signings they made and the Covid players returning, this defense is a top 5 unit and could be special. Why trade your best corner, one year removed from defensive player of the year?

I dont think they send anyone out. If they move up for a QB in the draft, itll be for draft capital, not players.

My opinion, anyway.

Could be right, but indications are Gilmore will want a significant restructure. No-one thinks he’ll play for 7.5 MM ext year. After all this, and an Andrews resigning (fingers crossed), is there enough money left to do it? Serious question - I know nothing when it comes to cap calculations.

He hasn't played in forever, but Marqise Lee is also under contract for the Pats. Wonder if he can regain some old magic.

I'd rather have Thuney and 2 fewer other teams' signings today, but I'll take it. God knows they need the help at WR.

I gotta say, those clips make Jimmy G. look pretty darn good (well, except for that wounded duck @ 3:06).

Is this the Bourne Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum, or a variation thereof not yet foretold?
Counterpoint - Jimmy G only threw 8 of those 36 passes.

(Nick Mullens threw 20 & CJ Beathard 8)

ETA: Never mind, those stats are wrong, but Mullens actually looked pretty good there, too.

Feel like if we get competent QB play he's going to be really good. Very solid player for SF last year. Most Patriots deal of the whole day.

I really like this signing. They are adding legitimate NFL starters with demonstrable talent and not the Jordan Matthews, Kenny Britt, Demaryius Thomas type flyers.

I think Harry will shine this year. Shine meaning over catches/yds/TDs predicted by the major books.
And it doesn't have to be with the Patriots.

I’m not remotely like any of the impressively scout-y members of this forum, but a few things I did notice in watching those highlight reels:

1) it was striking how consistently Bourne snatches the ball out of the air, as opposed to body-catching.
2) runs great routes, open a lot, but has many momentsof catching the ball in traffic.
3) has a little Edelman/Playoff Danny in him in terms of snaking his way through the wash to pick up an extra few yards.

Given the plethora of very good WR in this draft, along with these two signings, I think those rumors of Harry perhaps being sent packing have to pick up a lot of steam.

Hopefully he makes through the length of the contract, so he's not just the Bourne Bridge.
