IFA, signing bonus: $5,000.

A 1b up until this year, Castellanos was moved to LF because of Triston Casas. Not to be mistaken with the MLB player, Pedro Castellano, Castellanos is slow footed on the bases and stiff defensively. He has good contact skills but fringe bat speed. His first few years in the league he would never walk or strike out. While he has plus power, he has never tapped into it game wise until late in 2019. if he can hit for any type of power, he may have a shot at making it to the Majors. Whether he sticks or not depends on how much power he hits for.

In his first year, he hit .326/.394/.496 in 264 PA with 20bb/26k as a an 18 year old in the DSL.
His second year, he hit .338/.382/.456 in 217 PA with 10bb/17k as a 19 year old in the GCL.
His 3rd year, he hit .302/.334/.387 in 365 PA with 12bb/50k as a 20 year old in A.
His 4th year, he hit .276/.321/.397 in 486 PA with 22bb/71k as a 21 year old in A+. His last 30 games that season: .295/.350/.580 with a .298 BAbip in 123 PA with 8bb/21k and 4 doubles, 2 triples and 8 HRs. Prior to that point, he had 7 HRs in 1209 PA.

This year, he's currently slashing .262/.328/.430 in 119 PA with 9bb/20k. He has 4 doubles, 1 triple and 4 HRs on a .286 BAbip. He's been striking out more, walking more and hitting for more power of late. Interesting development.

More suspect than prospect.

According to the soxprospects podcast, other teams scouts would frequently ask them how the hell Castellanos had so few homers after watching him hit tank after tank in BP.

He's a guy to watch, but he's fallen down the depth chart behind Casas and possibly the rule 5 pick they got from the Yankees this past off-season (Reed).

Hit HR #7 last night. Up to .261/.346/.458 for the year in 162 PA/142 ABs with 15bb/27k.

His last 67 games, he has 15 HRs, 9 doubles, 3 triples, 23bb/48k in 285 PA/254 At bats.

To repeat what I said in the OP, his first 1209 PA/1109AB, he had 7 HR.

First 291 Games: 1 HR per 158 AB. Last 67: 1 HR per 16.9

He's a 1b/LF so he's never going to top any prospect charts but he's clearly turned some of his raw plus power into in game power after struggling to do so early in his career.

He had another 3 hit game last night, going 3/4. In his last 6 games, he has 4 multi hit games, 3 games with at least 3 hits and 1 4 hit game. During that stretch, he's 13/24 with 1bb/2k in 25 PA For the season, Pedro is now hitting .301/.374/.494, .323 BAbip for the year with 16bb/29k in 187 PA.

Since June 1st: .367/.432/.658 with a .371 BAbip in 88 PA/79 AB.

Vs R: .289/.364/.461 in 143 PA/128 AB. 5 HR, 11bb/23k
vs L: .342/.409/.605 in 44 PA/38 AB, 3 HR, 5bb/6k.

Home: .266/.376/.418 in 93 PA/79 AB. 3 HR, 11bb/12k
Road: .333/.372/.563 in 94 PA/87 AB. 5 HR, 4bb/18k.

Some pretty interesting splits too, though SSS. He's always hit lefties slightly better than righties. I'm guessing the home/road split is just noise.

Had another big game last night going 2/4 with a HR, a double and a walk.

Since last post: 20 PA/18 AB, .278/.350/.500, 2bb/3k.

I think he's starting to turn from binky to legit prospect.

Continues to hit for power.
Since last post: 23 PA, .318/.304/.591, 0bb/5k.

Since June 1st: 131 PA, .345/.397/.622 9bb/19k. 8 HR.

That's 17 HR in his last 281 PA. He also has 10 HR for this season, which is a career high. He did so in 230 PA. 2019 was his previous career high with 9, and as I've noted repeatedly, 7 of those came in the last 75 AB or 2019.

For the year: 230 PA, .301/.365/.505, 18bb/37k.
