Even though I knew it never would, I was worried when I opened this thread that it would be co-written with the same person Francona did his book with.
Thank goodness it wasn't.
it would be the same person with whom Francona co-wrote his book.

I'm sorry, OCD grammar urge could not be suppressed. (And I really did try. It's a problem.)
Larger point:  I concur with the overall sentiment.

There is no way for you to conclusively know that Terry Francona and CHB did not, in fact, have sex with Tito's book.

Oh my goodness gracious! What was I thinking? You are so right, although if it was co-written, Terry and CHB would essentially be having sex with themselves...

I suggest you double-check the sentence structure...It would be Pedro co-authoring a book with CHB, who - along with Tito himself - had sex with Tito's book.

No worries, I did have poor sentence structure in that post, and I'm always in favor of proper grammar.

Chapter 12: Who is Karim Garcia?

No, seriously, who is Karim Garcia? I've been asking that question for years and everyone just laughs when I say it.

We are giddy about this here in the HMH offices, I can assure you.   If I run into him in the men's room or, better yet, when he, hopefully, does a book signing here - I'll have him show me how to throw a decent (wiffle) curveball.

Bostonish...see Wiki for "ish"
Here's a little more info about the book from Publisher's Weekly naming his agent and the publisher as well as the angle of the book, at least as it's pitched. :)

"From three-time Cy Young Award-winning pitcher, Pedro Martinez's PEDRO, a memoir of his career, starting with his hardscrabble upbringing in the Dominican Republic as "Ramon's little brother," with lively, raw stories of his victories and setbacks, his rivalries and mentors, and what it was like to be that power pitcher with the slight frame who they said wasn't "durable" yet who overpowered and outwitted countless batters, written with Michael Silverman, to Susan Canavan at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, for publication in 2014, by Aaron Spiewak at Relativity Sports and Fernando Cuza at SFX Baseball.

I hope he talks about those 2000-2001 dysfunctional tire fires. I've always thought there was an incredible book to be written about the raging clusterfuck that was the end of the Yawkey regime. Duquette being awkward (but largely right), Williams just intentionally ratfucking the team, all the fucking insane people they employed (C4! Alcantara! Pichardo! the list goes on and on!)...

I mean, yeah, I want to read about 2004, but 2000-2001 is a nuclear crater from which I cannot look away.

Who edits God?

I'm glad it is Silverman; he deserves it and will let God just talk.

I was wondering that, too.  Book pubs shortly.  Review copy, perhaps?

He'll be on the road doing publicity next week.  This kind of book is what makes my job fun.

Sports Illustrated has an excerpt from the book in its latest issue and said excerpt involves Pedro's underwear, David Ortiz's undershirt and three midgets in Manny's head.
Enjoy:

Manny confounded everyone on the club. That was a big part of his appeal. Everything seemed out of place unless Manny was in la-la land, keeping us guessing what he would do next. How would he wear his hair? Why did he spray me with half a bottle of his cologne? Why did he ask me, “Hey, did you know there are men on their way to the moon right now?”
Once, he came up to my locker and put on my socks and my underwear and then went over to David Ortiz’s locker and put on his undershirt. “Why are you doing that, Manny?” I asked.

“I don’t know. Do you?”

“No, I really don’t.”

“Did you know I’ve got three little midgets working on me all the time in my head? Today they needed different clothes to wear.”

This book is gonna be great

Any idea if Pedro's NYC signing will also have a crazy early lineup? I'd like to sneak in there. Francona's book had a nice long line, but it went pretty quickly. The B&N website for Pedro doesn't indicate if there will be a line early. I'm assuming it's likely. It's not every day God hangs out at B&N.

Maybe just call the store to find out.  I'd bug the publicist but she's heading out on the road with Pedro for the next week and probably has enough on her plate!

Just be forewarned that they will let people start lining up ... umm.... at 8 a.m.!
I saw one store was doing wristbands or something. Is B&N at the Pru not doing that then?

Unfortunately I do have to be at work for some part of the day so this may not be realistic now.

There's a Facebook event page for the NYC signing.  Looks like they're expecting a pretty huge turnout:

"This will be a wristband event. Doors open at 7 am. Pick up a wristband with the purchase of a book. 2 book limit per customer. Only photos from the line permitted. (No posed or "lean-ins"). Book is $28 but 10% off with membership."

Great.  I did hear back from the publicist and she echoed my response to check with the store. Wristbands make sense but not sure on the Pru. Pedro is on Late Night w/ Seth Myers tomorrow talking about the book!
No dice on wristbands. They'll give them out for the purpose of showing who's bought a copy of the book already but you have to wait in line, first come first serve. Can start lining up at 7am.

Unfortunately this probably means no Pedro for me.

Thanks for posting. I didn't think to look at Facebook. Looks like I'll miss out on Pedro.

I'm watching Dan Patrick and he asked Pedro about Schilling and bloody sock game and Pedro said if Schilling couldn't go, he would have stepped in to pitch. And I'm thinking, "huh, that can't be right, Pedro went 6 innings the day before in Game 5." I'm guessing Pedro was referring to Game 2 of the World Series, not Game 6 in New York.

He said he couldn't take anti-inflammatories during the course of his career because it made his stomach bleed. I don't think I heard that before that interview.
