I don't think anyone's surprised by the bunting anymore, Franchy

Despite only playing 30g so far, 36-year old Matt Carpenter is on pace to surpass his single season high in HR. He will likely hit more home runs than in his last three seasons combined. His career avg is .263 and he was sub-Mendoza in each of the last two seasons, yet he is batting over .350 right now. His OPS would be the 2nd highest age-36 OPS season of all time behind the year Barry Bonds and his giant head hit 73 home runs.

Totally normal.

The Carpenter phenomenon is no more ridiculous than life itself, and barely more ridiculous than the Refsnyder experience.
Still annoying though

If Duran stands there, he walks. Same with JBJ and Franchy. It adds up when a mediocre pitcher doesn’t have to throw strikes.
The Rays series was really glaring. Not much hitting at all on the roster but they don’t try to do too much, don’t get themselves out, and go with the pitch. All of our hitters, good and bad alike, could afford to take notes.

They are still steroid testing players right?
Just checked - they are NOT testing for PED’s - the league and players association refused to comment. The ”no steroid” agreement expired at the end of 2021. The lockout coincided with the expiration of the agreement. But there’s no way that’s the real reason. They could get the agreement renewed no problem if both parties wanted it. There’s a huge story here, I’d love to know what happened.

Feel free to talk about it in the MLB forum, but baseless speculation here adds nothing.
