Halak, that was...not a good decision.
The decision was fine-he beat him to the puck. It almost looked like he slipped up a stride or two before getting there, and instead of hammering the puck out of the zone, he made a really weak poke check attempt that went nowhere. Bad execution

Gatden ice is still questionable. Cole tripped and fell on his face earlier

Bad luck there. The missed backhand should have turned into easy breakout, but it hit the ref and Krug and Marchand were already headed the other way.

What a depressing stretch. I don't understand how they are still up 8 points in the division, but life has been really busy. Has everyone else been shitty lately, too?

I respect your hockey knowledge a lot, could you give a little more insight into this for us less knowledgeable fans? I want to feel better.
They are starting to control games more. They out chanced Nashville 26-13 tonight at 5x5 and had nearly 70% of the expected goals at 5x5. They’ve been north of 50% by shot, chance, expected goals in every game since the Washington game, other than Tampa which I chalk up to back to back.

They piled up a ton of wins early on despite some mediocre underlying numbers. They’d get outplayed but Marchand/Pasta were white hot, would make a play, and they’d win. It’s a bit of the opposite now. Each brain fart is ending up in the back of the net and at the other end they’ve cooled off and aren’t finishing.

In short- even though they are losing they have been outshooting and chancing teams recently which is an indicator of them doing things right. The saves and finish aren’t quite there but will come.

It helps that nobody else in the Atlantic is really setting the world on fire. As it stands now, the Metropolitan has five of the eight playoff spots.
