Lots of upper table teams with seemingly innocuous away fixtures that could turn tricky this morning.  Then the main even tomorrow when Arsenal travels to the Etihad.

Also, I see that LVG is persisting with the 3-5-2, hoping that three central defenders might be enough to stem the relentless attack of the mighty QPR.  We'll see how that goes...

50 seconds in and Chelsea leads 1-0. Swansea lost the ball in own half, Oscar picks it up, runs 10yards and shoots it low to his left from 20yards. A nice goal, but nothing special. The reporters said about 5 times how "absolutely" something (stunning, astonishing,...) it was...Alright :q:

LVG is a stubborn bastard...3-5-2, Di Maria as a striker (hint, he's a great player, but not Arjen Robben), Rooney as a midfielder, etc.

Luckily for them, QPR are awful so they probably win anyway.

Oooh, Fabio.  Get that transfer fee back up!

That was some sexy football.  Given that Villa score about as often as Kilgore on a Friday night, I'm feeling pretty good.

20´: Oscar, Fabregas and Willian play tiki-taka right on the entry of the box, and another pass - a deadly one from Fabregas - to Diego Costa and it´s 2-0 Chelsea.

They are dominating, while the defense isn´t all that perfect. Gomis just could have had a perfect chance, if he didn´t lose the ball after Cahill missed it, but so did Gomis and nothing came out of it.

Halftime, 4-0 Chelsea. 3-0 was ridiculous gift by Swansea for Diego Costa. 4-0 was a nice chip into the short top corner by Oscar. I guess there will be some substitutions for Chelsea to get someone some playing time.

Puncheon scores from outside the box to level it up at Burnley. Burnely getting good at letting two goal leads slip. Big six pointer with Palace...come on you Clarets. Palace looking lively.

Eighth or lower without him. MVP of the EPL.

The MVP of the league will be the player that keeps one of the teams at the bottom up. It'll be Ings or Austin or someone like that. de Gea is great an all, but he plays in a team that's had about 200M spent on it in the last 18 months or so...Utd vying for the league is worth how much...how much is it worth to Burnley if they stay up (relative to the value of the club say, or the operating budget?) Conventional wisdom...which is often where people of slightly above average intelligence reside, to listen to faintnechoes, may have your view as the more prevalent...but I think if say Ings goals keeps Burnely up; Burnely who spent about 6m in the close season...etc etc etc

The difference between 8th and anything above it is what, 100M? Europe pays.

That said, if Burnley stays up after not spending anything on the club (and re-investing in their infrastructure/youth development), I will be enormously happy for them. I admire what they've chosen to do this season.

Lambert makes no sense. None. Liverpool have only been dangerous on the break. Why put a glorified traffic cone in?

Borini didn't have the composure to make the correct decision on the break unless he was on the end of it. He cocked up a few attacks by choosing the wrong final ball, so I didn't have any problem with the change.

Lambert at least allows for hold up play that can spring Henderson/Sterling/Coutinho. Before the goal he had another play holding up the ball for Henderson to play it in from the side of the penalty area - ultimately ended up in Guzan's arms but it was stronger than anything Borini had done since his goal.

I stand by it. Only looked dangerous on the break and they slowed themselves down.

Good for you. Nothing is more impressive in this world that being defiantly, stupidly wrong about something and then refusing to admit you might have made a mistake.

What is the bigger achievement in football. Man Utd spending 200M and finishing 3rd or Burnley Spending about 6M and staying up? The TV money for Burnely is going to be about 60+M for the year, they stay up they get that for another year.

Man U are supposed to finish top three. Man U are giving other teams scotring opportunities. Their goalie is a great shot stopper. But he's not dragging defenders wide, he's not causing anyone to make adjustments, he's not making moves...he is stopping shots, all the more because for all the money UTD have spent they are still not a team and they have holes good teams can exploit.  He is not the MVP. He can be the best player in the league and not be the MVP.

I concede the point; you are correct.

The bigger achievement is Burnley staying up; I really hope they manage it. I've greatly enjoyed watching them battle this season (much more than watching QPR's collection of talent run around, that's for sure).

Can anyone explain why Vertongen's second goal was disallowed?
The linesman blew the call. Offsides can't occur in your own end of the field.

Announcers rightfully giving the ref a shedload of shit in the West Ham-Hull game for stopping the game correctly when the home team had a potential head injury but allowing a full minute of play with a visiting player down in the box - with all the action around him - after another potential head injury. Terribly inconsistent, homer-reffing and dangerous as fuck. Alex Bruce was down for three crosses into the box with boots and legs all around the whole time. Shameful.

Players dropping like flies; Hull has had to replace two defenders and Reid is now on for West Ham.

Carroll scores on a rebound to make it 1-0.

Ospina, not Sczwhatever in goal for Arsenal.

Kompany and Aguero back for City.
