Passed away yesterday at age 68. Looked forward to his baseball card every year as he had an epic afro. His hat would sometimes float above a hair halo. Also, love this quote: "...when talking about the dysfunction within the Yankees clubhouse: 'They don't think it be like it be, but it do.'"

He would round second going from first to third on a single and his helmet would come flying off that fantastic afro as if it had an ejector button sending it skyward. Magical.

All the more reason to hate the MFY. As if we needed more reasons.

Dude had a pretty good career--127 OPS+.

Would have loved to have seen him in an OF with Bake McBride and Garry Maddox.

Great call! On a tangent, "Bake" is definitely in the running for best non-nickname name for a baseball player.

His name is Arnold, so Bake is definitely a nickname.
Wow - bad job by me. Saw he also went by "Shake and Bake" and didn't look further. Great nickname, but not nearly as distinctive.

Funny they'd use it on the front of his card too, but I guess they did that now and then. Bake should have played for George "Sparky" Anderson!
