I dunno what this is about, precisely, but it doesn't sound great, and I have nothing but love for the man so I hope he comes out of it OK.

Write-up doesn't give a whole lot extra that the insta clip on Sunday NFL Countdown didn't say, but if you don't want to watch:

https://www.cnn.com/2024/12/02/sport/randy-moss-health-concern-nfl-spt-intl/index.html

Maybe something with his eyes, because of the tinted sunglasses? Either way, "got a great team of doctors" sounds very much like a physical health issue, not a family matter or mental health or something, so for him to bring it up and tell men out there to "go get your check-ups, get your blood work done"... I dunno what he's going through, but prayers up for the best WR I've ever seen play the game.

The sunglasses came after people noticed yellow eyes. Usually a liver or pancreas problem leads to Jaundice.

I won't speculate as to Moss's health, but I can't help noticing his repeated addressing "all the men." Best wishes to the most entertaining WR (and perhaps most entertaining Patriot, but that's a high bar) I ever saw play.

He was one of my favorites even before he got to New England, and it was magical to watch those teams while he was here, no matter how it ended. I’m glad he turned his life around from a rough start in the league (putting it very mildly here), and wish him nothing but the best.

Yeah--I'd love to see if the thread with the talk about him joining NE is still around here somewhere.

Moss was my favorite football player to watch, ever. He was a rookie my senior year of high school and something about his speed and athleticism stuck with me and just about every other kid my age. The following year Randy was on the cover of NFL 2k and the Vikings were everyone's go-to team on Dreamcast in my college dorm. It got to the point where they became off limits. I followed him his whole career despite not being a fan of the Vikings, Patriots or any of his other stops along the way (I grew up a Washington fan). I wish him all the best and hope it's a speedy recovery.

Moss is the rare kind of athlete that was so incredibly gifted, even uber-athletes that were paid millions of dollars for their athleticism where in awe of his ability--like Bo Jackson, LeBron or Allen Iverson.

Moss was so great that despite finishing third all time in yards and second all-time in touchdowns when he retired, and having had some record-breaking seasons and numerous epic performances--it STILL kind of felt that he left something on the table. He was just that good.

2007 was the most joyous regular season in Patriots history. Living with all the talk about how great Peyton Manning was and all the records he put up while Brady was throwing the ball to Reche Caldwell--and the idea that if Brady just got some weapons he'd put up the same kind of numbers. Then they got Moss and Wes Welker and re-wrote the record book. That first Moss game--against the Jets, 9 catches, 183 yards and a long bomb TD, was something else.

1. Watching that offensive line absolutely dominate was a thing of beauty
2. Watching the Jets punt from the 4th and 1/2 a yard from the Pats 44 with Phil Simms saying what a smart play it was because it avoided giving the Patriots “momentum” was the opposite of that
3. Moss was awesome

At one point, deep into 3rd quarter they flashed the stat that Brady had been hurried ONCE.

Surprised he beat Schilling to breaking the "news".
Seriously people need to get over themselves with that crap, here is the horrible statement from Schilling that was deemed so offensive.

"“Tim Wakefield is sick,” Schilling said. “I want Tim and Stacy to know obviously we’re praying for them, we’re thinking of them.”

One major problem: This sentence was immediately preceded by:

"This is not a message that Tim has shared and I don’t even know if he wants it shared."

This fake outrage is cute, such an edgy guy.

There’s a reason other teammates were pissed at Curt.

You don't say?
“[It was] bulls**t, what he did,” Lowe told MassLive.com during a luncheon honoring the team to benefit the Foundation to Be Named Later, a Boston-based nonprofit, on Monday (April 8), one day before the ceremony during Fenway Park's Opening Day on Tuesday (April 9). “I knew a lot. Golfed with [Wakefield], knew the whole story. And understanding what they wanted out as a family, and you do that? It’s just bulls**t. Again, [Schilling not attending], is the right thing.”
There's also the bit where you left out context, but it looks like others got there first.

You might be the only person with that view.
At least post the entire quote, so people can decide for themselves:
Tim Wakefield Asks for 'Privacy' After Curt Schilling Shares Cancer News

On Tuesday, Schilling, 56, said on The Curt Schilling Baseball Show podcast that Tim — his teammate on the Red Sox from 2004-2007 — has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form of brain cancer” and that Stacy has pancreatic cancer.
“Tim Wakefield, you remember Tim Wakefield, the knuckleballer, is sick,” Schilling said of the 57-year-old retired athlete. “And I talked with [former Red Sox catcher] Doug Mirabelli yesterday, and this is not a message that Tim has asked anyone to share, and I don’t even know if he wants it shared, but as a Christian and as a man of faith I’ve seen prayer work and so I’m going to talk about it.”
He continued: “Recently Tim was diagnosed with a very serious, very aggressive form of brain cancer.”
Schilling also shared that Stacy has cancer as well.
“Tim’s wife Stacy is one of the sweetest women you’ll ever meet, is very sick with pancreatic cancer and my wife has talked with her and they're communicating and they're going through an incredibly difficult time with Stacy, and I wanted them to know that we’re obviously all thinking of them and praying for her.”
Shortly after Schilling’s disclosure surfaced, it was met with ire on social media.

“F--- you Curt Schilling, that wasn’t your place!” Catherine Varitek, the wife of former Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek, wrote on X (formerly Twitter),

Yeah, no. The family was extremely upset with red-light for his shameless attention-whoring. You wait for the family to announce, then you publicly express your sympathies. Not complicated.

Weird, other than the story about him stealing welfare money, I never hear much about Favre. Now all of a sudden there’s this, getting yelled at by Gastineau, and weighing in on the HCG shooter. Been a busy couple days for him. Does he have a book or something?

I just came across this recent video on YouTube. Mark Gastineau "confronts" Favre over helping Strahan break Gastineau's sack record. Very, very cringey -- Gastineau might be battling mental illness.

Man, Favre had led that about as well as you could and extra credit to the middle man for instantly diffusing it.

1. Gastineau clearly has been hit in the head one too many times. Awfully tragic and sad. I hate that I watch the NFL.
2. I doubt Favre or Strahan had an instant of thought about Gastineau before breaking the record. I would have done the same thing that they did. It was a friendly, respectful move. The world doesn’t revolve around you, Mark.

It wasn't a sack. Tackle for loss but no sack. Watt got there anyway and if they kept track earlier Bubba Baker would be holding the record. Plus, Klecko was a better player.

Even better…..he was called out by his son LF Jr!
Good for him.

Favre’s deliberate fall was lame. Make Strahan earn it. But that’s where my alignment with Gatineau ends.

Yeah, a family member had a scare of this kind of cancer, and it's...real bad. Anytime you see the words "Whipple procedure" (which is by itself supposed to be an excruciating and hard to recover from surgery), you're talking something like a 1 in 5 chance at surviving 5 years. I'm sure Randy's got the best care available, and hopefully they caught this really early, but that's rough.

Yeah, Steve Jobs had the Whipple Procedure and access to the absolute best care in the world, but ultimately succumbed to the cancer.

Geez, I have a hard time wrapping my head around someone who possessed elite physical ability having a bout with human frailty. I hope Randy can recover and lead a long life.

It's obviously not quite the same, but I remember how shocked I was seeing Bill Russell walking with a cane. Some things just shouldn't be.

Which he mostly refused. I don’t think you can use Jobs as a reference for Moss’ recovery. Steve Jobs waited months to have the procedure done. He also never got chemo or radiation instead choosing to rely on natural methods primarily. I like Randy’s chances better.

I just heard of the diagnosis.I am bummed about it. He’s only 47 years old. I wish him the best.
