Rounding out the team, the Penny Pinchers select Pavel Francouz, G to backup Hellebuyck. One of the best goalies in Europe for much of the last decade, Francouz is wrapping up his rookie year in the NHL having performed well enough to generate a real debate in Colorado as to whether he should be the #1 goalie. He won't get that opportunity here, as there's no way he's unseating Hellebuyck, but he'll slot in nicely as a guy who'll pick up 20 to 25 starts behind Connor, and who the team could comfortably start for a stretch if Hellebuyck was out for a bit of time. We're going to cheat a little and fold his recent two year extension into his contract for this year, which allows the Penny Pinchers to get over the salary cap floor by about $300K. Final team overview to come in a bit.

Evgenii Dadonov (31) - Nate MacKinnon (24) - Victor Olofsson (24)
Jakub Vrana (24) - Sean Couturier (27) - Bryan Rust (27)

Last pick I'm taking Jesper Fast, RW. Need a little bit more physicality from my forwards and he can bring it. Not afraid to hit a guy and can play up and down the line up. Can spend time on both the PK and PP, though probably not needed on the latter.

Huberdeau (27) - McDavid (23) - Mantha (25)
Nylander (24) - Danault (27) - Mikheyev (25)
Zucker (28) - K. Hayes (28) - Eberle (30)
Nichuskin (25) - Copp (26) - Fast (28)

Klingberg (27) - Pietrangelo (30)
Sanheim (24) - Ekblad (24)
Lindgren (22) - Fox (22)

Saros (25)
Lehner (29)

Really love Fast's game. They really missed him after he got hurt in Game 1 against Carolina.

So - wasn't there discussion that someone here may have the ability to build these rosters into NHL20 or something similar and see how the teams fared?
I just grabbed FHM 6 for $10. I'm going on vacation this week, but will try to wrap my head around it and see if I can make it work next week.

Between here and everywhere.
Sooooo how’s everyone’s team performing so far?

My team has been...underwhelming. My top draft pick (Pettersson) hasn’t shown up this year. Marner has obviously been a stud. My defense has been solid despite a less than great start by my goalie.

I still like the overall makeup of my team, I just hope some of them start to wake up.

My team has had a pretty good start. Zegras as my last pick went....fairly well. As did Josh Anderson on my fourth line.

I'm definitely way over the cap though, which is a problem. Anyone want to trade for Kreider?

My forwards have been great. My defense is 2 short because of retirement or on the taxi squad. Nick Ritchie has been a big surprise and Jack Hughes has taken the leap I thought he might.
1st Line--Taylor Hall(1-5-6 ), Brayden Point(2-3-5), Mikko Rantanen(5-2-7) Line's combined plus-minus is +2
2nd Line--Tyler Bertuzzi(3-2-5), Jack Hughes(3-4-7), Kyle Palmieri(0-3-3) Line's combined plus-minus is +7
3rd Line--Pavel Buchnevich(2-2-4), Nico Hischier(injured), Connor Brown(0-3-3) Line's combined plus-minus is even
4th Line--Nick Ritchie(2-3-5), Derick Brassard(1-3-4), Chris Wagner(0-0-0) Line's combined plus-minus is -1

1st D: Ivan Provorov(1-1-2), Shea Weber(1-3-4)
2nd D: Ian Cole(0-0-0), Matt Niskanen(RETIRED)
3rd D: Vaak-Alex Goligoski(0-1-1)

G: Jordan Binnington(3-1, 2.53 GAA)
G: Alexander Georgiev(1-1, 2.40 GAA)

Svechnikov - Seguin - Kucherov
Schwartz - Cirelli - R Smith
Nyquist - Nelson - C Smith
Laughton - Staal - Dowd

Josi - Ellis
Ekholm - Nurse
Brannström - Hamonic

Blackwood
Allen

Injuries have claimed 2/3 of my first line (and Nyquist on line 3), slower start than expected for my Perd-centric blue liners, and Blackwood has the rona.

On the plus side, Svechnikov is a stud, line 4 has chipped in some scoring, and Nurse and Blackwood are studs.

Much maligned top draft pick JT Miller is doing exactly what I hoped for, 18 minutes per game, 37% CF with a 71% OZone start, 5 assists and a -5 in 5 games. Nailed it.

Forwards are all doing what they should except Dadonov who is exiled to Ottawa and would certainly perform better with Penny Pincher talent alongside him. Defense has been bad, but luckily Hellebuyck remains as good as it gets. Teams a lot of fun to play with on the NHL game; set the strategy to all out offense and hope Hellebuyck can bail you out when he's left on an island, which will be often.

Between here and everywhere.
What a difference a couple weeks make.

Some stats:

Debrincat (7g, 8a) / Pettersson (5g, 7a) / Marner (6g, 15a)
Domi (2g, 4a) / Coyle (2g, 2a) / Virtanen (1g, 0a)
Dzingle (2g, 2a) / Thomas (1g, 5a) / Kapanen (2g, 4a)
Beauvillier (0g, 1a) / Necas (1g, 4a) / Delauriers (3g, 2a)

Carlo (2g, 1a) / Chabot (3g, 4a)
Lindholm (2g, 4a) / Lindell (1g, 0a)
Fleury (0g/0a) / Barrie (3g, 9a)

Shesterkin (2.16GAA / .922 SV%)

43 total team goals, which in the real NHL would put us just about 12th in the league. Our goaltending/defense is probably keeping us in most games with our offense doing enough to get by.

We've had a couple injury issues, and a slow start. But the team is really starting to pick up and should start compiling some stats.

we have some COVID issues but looking pretty good in general. The third line is buzzing and our bet on josh Anderson rebounding has gone very well. Only Kreider, the bottom pair and our young goalie have played poorly but you can manage. Our offense has scored 66 goals which would be no1 in the nhl by 11 goals and half the roster still hasn’t played 10 games because of COVID cancellations. Excited to see where this ends up.

Fiala (3g 0A) - Barkov (4g, 8a) - Meier (2g, 4a)
Kreider (4g, 0A) - Larkin (4g, 5a) - Reinhart (3g, 3a)
Farabee (6g, 6a) - Schmaltz (5g, 6a) - Saad (5G, 3a)
Zegras (ahi)-Kotkaniemi (1g, 6a)-Anderson (9g, 2a)

Hedman (3g, 11a) - Spurgeon (0g, 2a)
Reilly (2g, 9a) - Dumba (3g, 1a)
Andersson (2g, 4a) - Jokiharju (1g, 0A)

Carter Hart (3.49, .897)
Elvis (

Its been a month so why not. This team has so much firepower. They have 106 goals, which would is 13 more than Toronto for the league lead. Their forwards dominate possession, which they absolutely need to do because Carter Hart is giving up 4 goals a game. I bet this team would be super fun to watch but also extremely frustrating. Every game is 5-4.

Fiala (8g 3A) - Barkov (8g, 19a) - Meier (4g, 11a)
Kreider (13g, 4A) - Larkin (5g, 7a) - Reinhart (11g, 8a)
Farabee (11g, 11a) - Schmaltz (7g, 9a) - Saad (9G, 6a)
Zegras (0G, 2A)-Kotkaniemi (3g, 11a)-Anderson (10g, 4a)

Hedman (5g, 20a) - Spurgeon (0g, 4a)
Reilly (3g, 17a) - Dumba (5g, 4a)
Andersson (3g, 11a) - Jokiharju (1g, 1A)

Carter Hart (3.61, .888)
Elvis ( 2.81, .917)

Interesting year for my team. Defense is very solid and able to chip in on offense, probably a bit worrisome on defense. Offense has 98 goals, so not quite @burstnbloom but close. Disappointing years by Danault and Mikheyev but at least Danault would slot well as a 4th liner. Goaltending has been a disaster with Saros sucking and Lehner both sucking and being hurt. McDavid should feel right at home with this team.

Huberdeau (10G, 20A) - McDavid (16G, 32A) - Mantha (6G, 4A)
Nylander (10G, 11A) - Danault (1G, 10A) - Mikheyev (3G, 5A)
Zucker (4G, 3A) - K. Hayes (9G, 9A) - Eberle (9G, 7A)
Nichuskin (5G, 3A) - Copp (5G, 12A) - Fast (3G, 6A)

Klingberg (4G, 12A) - Pietrangelo (2G, 8A)
Sanheim (1G, 6A) - Ekblad (9G, 9A)
Lindgren (0G, 9A) - Fox (2G, 13A)

Saros (3,10, .895)
Lehner (2.96, .890)

Pavel Francouz (N/A)

Pretty much what I expected. The offense is very strong, and a number of these guys probably do even better with this kind of talent playing with them then they do with the guys they really play with (i.e. Dadonov, Dahlin, etc). The third pairing on defense is a real problem, and Dach and Francouz missing the entire season to date hurts.

Yikes. Two of my top liners are out, but still, mid 60s in goals for ain’t cutting it with Blackwood / Allen as the tandem in net.

100 goals seems like it's pretty good?
Fleury has taken over the 1A spot for now. Sorry Tristan.
We'd also like to congratulate Jamie Benn on reaching 700 career points. We hope it'll kick his butt into gear a little bit.
We're not going to comment on Krejci other than to say it would be nice if his first goal starts him going a little bit.

Price (8-4 0 SO .906 Sv%)
Subban (4-3 1 SO .907 SV%)

Scoring has been Ok, but not enough to offset Price suddenly getting very old. PIMS are mostly where expected even with Kassian being a no show for the season with 359 for the season. That should be a minimum of 15 more if the refs shows up for the BOS/WAS game. This line up would be averaging 5+ penalties a night. Only slightly disappointed that there have only been 2 suspensions of fines from this group.

I have actually gotten more production than I would have anticipated. Especially with all the double shifting. Several haven't suited up at all, and Nygard only has played in 4 games before... wait for it... getting hurt:

103 goals, so not bad. My 4th line is pretty bad, as is my goalie depth but still would be a tough team to beat.
