Cover for our 3rd position where my starter has a Torn ACL.  Inconsistent, was a good player until he kept getting hurt.  If he stays healthy he's the starter for the Jets and can't ask for much more at this point of the draft.

I was going to reiterate how much it sucks that this has ground to a halt, but I guess I've made that opinion clear.

Let's just go free for all in round 5, or not do it at all.

Agreed. There's still going to be or should be anyway a lot of discussion on teams as the year goes on, especially if we do the vote/judge on each team. Let's get this over with.

Here's what we need to do... tomorrow morning at 8 people get a 20 minute window to make a final pick for round 4. Then at 11 we have a 20 minute free for all for those who need to finish their round 4 picks.

At 1120 tomorrow we have a free for all for the final picks.

I'd have to check in here between 8 and 8:20 tomorrow morning?   :smith:

How about 10-11:00 AM Eastern free-for-all for ending round 4, then Round 5 picks open at 11 and go until 12:30pm Eastern?

This works.  I'll make Turrable's picks after round five is finished.

MMS - can we get a ruling on this? If so make a post with the final rules... I will message everyone with it.

Who is filling in? Baka for MSF. Anyone else?

Let's just do it.  No on has objected too it, I can't think why anyone would, and MMS isn't online.

I like Dollar's schedule.  And SMU, can you take one of the teams that hasn't drafted?  I think ragnarok, Merlin, and Tito need supplemental picks.

It would be great if others could volunteer to pick for MM or Tito if they don't.

I'll go with some defensive line depth and take Ian Williams, DT

Couldn't find a decent picture quickly, so the heck with it!  Keep it moving.

Let's just finish round 4 normally. Then starting Tuesday well have the round five free for all. After that, a group of us will make the picks for any team without a full roster.

Sound good?

There's no point of a free for all if we're giving up on Sunday.
From the beginning we've acknowledged that this might go past the first weekend of the season. No big deal. We'll have the free for all during the week and everybody will get to make one pick with the advantage of having seen one week of games. Let's just chill and enjoy some football tomorrow.

I don't actually care much, I just felt like everyone else did.  It is kind of BS though.  Like what if someone get's the next Brady because they were to lazy to make a pick that's likely to get cut in the offseason anyway?

People are going to be pissed though.  SMU hasn't even talked to me since I tried to read a couple extra camp reports.  If someone gets a stud because we all took to long he'll throw his Larry Mahans halfway across the ranch.

What's wrong with the method Dollar proposed?  We'd have something to keep us all busy while we're waiting for kickoff and we'd have this whole wrapped up.  That'd be great.

I will go with anything but the free for all idea has little value now. The point was to finish before kickoff today. I wanted to finish before today but at this point I suggest we intentionally hold off on round 5 until tuesday so everyone gets 1 pick post weekend.

To clarify, let's finish round 4 and do the free for all midweek, so everybody gets one late pick.

A group of us will make all the picks for Tito, Merlin, and Turrable. I'm not letting them make all five picks with the benefit of seeing a week of game action.

And while Turrable has a legit excuse, Tito and Merlin are both fuckwads in my book for not even checking in or communicating anything this whole time.

I've got a pick to catch up on for round 4. Sorry all for the delay. Things have been a bit crazy. Picking a guy that didn't play today.

We need another linebacker.  You can never have enough linebackers.

My guy, Akeem Dent, has become a starter with the Falcons.  He's growing into an excellent middle linebacker, earning 13 starts last year.

Guy tackles.  Guy hits.  We like him.

With Philip Rivers as my starting QB, it's time to draft a project who can learn for a couple years then take over as my long-term guy.  That will be Hambone's buddy...

Brock Osweiler, QB

Hopefully he has learned a thing or two from Peyton and can come into our offense and play well.  Here's what PFF had to say about his Preseason week 4 performance:

we got to see 29 snaps from the lofty one before he made way for Zac Dysert, and what we saw was impressive. He had some real zip to his throws and completed 7 of 10 passes for 108 yards during his stint, leading the Broncos capably down the field. He may not be Peyton Manning, but hey, Manning isn’t 6’8” either (and neither is Osweiler!).

I'll give him a shot as our project QB.

Sorry for going AWOL this weekend guys.

I missed one pick, and I checked all the threads and the spreadsheet and didn't see him listed:

Since our starting OLB Victory Butler is out for most of the season with a knee injury, we'll do what the Saints did and grab the guy they picked up to take his place:

With our 4th pick in the supplemental draft, the Jnai Dolphins select OLB Parys Haralson

A quick recap of the Vikings roster reveals two holes:  Tank Carradine has been put on the Non-Football Injury list, and there's speculation that San Francisco might just shut the rookie down for the season; and Casey Heyward is expected to miss at least a month.

With those injuries in mind, the Vikings will use its last two supplemental selections on:

Chris Canty, DL and Leodis McKelvin, CB

Canty is a versatile defensive lineman who played the interior in the Giants 4 man front and is now playing a 3-4 end for Baltimore.  He's demonstrated the ability to be effective in the past, and while Baltimore's defense has plenty of issues, D-Line shouldnt be one of them.  We're hopinig for a bounce-back season from Canty playing along with Ngata, Suggs, and Dumervil.   Most importantly - he's got the size to hold up as an 3-4 End if we play Wake standing up outside, and he allows us to shift Dareus up and down the line to gain favorable matchups.

McKelvin has flashed signs of ability, and if he can stay healthy should help us in both the return game and the defensive backfield.  He's played all over the field, making him an excellent utility DB, and he'll be pressed into service immediately in the Slot until Heyward can return.  He also provides some depth to assist rookie Johnathan Banks on the outside.  With few other proven options left at the position, we're happy to get somebody with the versatility McKelvin can offer, even if his upside is more limited.

Alright, we'll see if Saturnian makes his picks.  If so, then Dollar can pick and we can keep going in order until tomorrow at 9 AM EST.

At that point, its a free for all and anybody can make their 5th round pick (or makeup) picks at any point until Thursday's game.

DO NOT POST THE FREE-FOR-ALL PICKS IN THIS THREAD.  USE THE OTHER THREAD.

Th Saints will take QB Tyler Bray

and CB Terrell Thomas

Bray is a rookie with a live arm; I'd rather take a flier on a young guy with upside than a known, limited, quantity.

On one hand, Thomas has had three ACL reconstruction surgeries.  On the other hand, he would have been taken a long time ago if he had Adrian Peterson's "baby knees".  I thought he looked pretty good last night, so i'll take him as a DB depth with upside if he has truly recovered from his latest injury.

Right now my RBs are Mikel Leshoure and Ahmad Bradshaw.  While I think they'll do a fine job this year, I want one more speed guy who can come in on 3rd down or give Bradshaw a rest.  That guy will be...

Da'rel Scott, RB

Very explosive back in college at Maryland, when he was able to stay healthy.  Ran a 4.34 at the Combine, and he's now in his third year.  Scored a couple long TDs (97 yd punt return, 65 yd fake punt run) in the preseason his rookie year.  Doesn't have the best hands, as Eli can attest, but hopefully the Giants will give him a chance to show what he can do with the ball.  In the last RealFantasy Draft, I took Jerome Harrison as my sleeper running back, and I was pretty happy with that for a short while, but I'm hoping this pick turns out better than that.

Year-end Redskins Report

Offense Year End
Offense
Position Player PFF
QB Joe Flacco -13.2
QB2 Kirk Cousins -11.3
RB1 LaRod Stephens-Howling NA
RB2 LeVeon Bell 4.3
RB3 LeGarrett Blount 10.1
TE1 Vernon Davis 8.6
TE2 Niles Paul -4
WR1 Alshon Jeffery 18.7
WR2 DeAndre Hopkins -1.7
WR3 Brandon Gibson 6.6
LT Trent Williams 38.3
LG Wade Smith -10.7
C Fernando Velasco -4.9
RG Barrett Jones NA
RT Gosder Cherilus 12.2

Sadly, what could be a very good offense was handcuffed this season by poor QB play.  Perhaps my two best picks of this exercise, Alshon Jeffery (which I thought at the time was a panic move when the WR I wanted, Corradelle Patterson, was picked right before me) and LeGarrett Blount (in the supplemental draft) are on this side of the ball.  With Blount and Bell I have a solid RB tandem, albeit not the tandem I set out with.  Trent Williams and Gosder Cherilus are very solid bookends on a line that will need some help in the interior.  The pieces are in place here for a solid unit, but decisions will need to be made at the QB position.

Defense Year End
Defense
Position Player PFF
DE1 Greg Hardy 27
DE2 De'Quan Bowers -2.7
DT1 Nick Fairley 5.8
DT2 Sheldon Richardson 30.4
WLB Alec Ogeltree -4.2
MLB DeMeco Ryans -21.4
SLB1 Gerald Hodges NA
SLB2 Jolpo Bartu -1.7
CB1 Greg Toler -3.3
CB2 Kareem Jackson -3.9
CB3 David Amerson -5.5
FS1 Kerry Rhodes NA
FS2 Charles Godfrey -2
SS Major Wright -27.2

Do I think this is the best front four in our league?  No.  But it might be close.  Richardson looks to be the guy I thought he was, and him on the inside and Hardy on the outside is a nice combination.  I'd like to think Bowers would put up better numbers with Hardy commanding so much attention.    At the next level, I think Ogeltree and Ryans had better seasons than PFF gives them credit for, and I'd also like to think they would put up better numbers with the front four I have.  While I whiffed on Hodges, thankfully it looks like another rookie SLB, Bartu, might be a player.  Overall, that is a front seven on the younger side that I can go to war with.

Sadly, that might not be enough to mask the holes in this secondary.  Down years at the CB spot, one FS that is out of the league, another that got hurt early on, and a SS who got shredded this season in Chicago.

Best Pick:  Tough call between Richardson and Jeffery.  I'd go with Jeffery because there were more question marks surrounding him at the time.  Richardson was a first round pick this year.  In fact, looking back at the draft thread gives me giggles, given my thoughts when I picked him, and later when I named him my "worst pick of the draft."  In short, I am an idiot and don't listen to a word I say.
Worst Pick:  Hard to live that Flacco selection down.

Looking at this roster, it's hard to think this is a playoff team.  In fact, if forced to put a record to this squad, I'd put it at 6-10, maybe 7-9, based on PFF numbers.  This is a passing league and with weakness at QB and in the secondary, it is hard to imagine winning many games.  A run based, play action offense that minimized risk and put the ball in the hands of Davis/Jeffery/Bell/Blount and kept the defense off the field would be our best bet.  If our front four had huge days, we'd win games.  But in the PFF vacuum, this is a team with a .500 ceiling.

Now, on the "eye test," I'd think Flacco would do better in this offense than his PFF numbers gave him credit for, since he'd have his binky in Vernon Davis (remember Flacco was without Pitta most of the season), he'd have a guy that like Boldin would win balls in the air (Jeffery) and a guy who can stretch the field a bit (Hopkins).  Maybe in a non-PFF world this is a better squad?  Tough to say...
