RealFantasy IR/Retired Replacements

The supplemental draft is "over".  Picks can still be made through 1PM EDT, Sunday, September 14.  Any team with open roster spots after that time will be assigned the highest drafted player from the NFL draft not on a RealFantasy roster.  If the team has an obvious hole at a position they will be given a player that fits that hole.  Players that are claimed through this are not eligible to be drafted as a make-up pick.  This is one of the few times that paying attention will actually pay off.

Tomorrow, September 12, we will begin the IR replacement process.  Starting at NOON EDT (to allow our west coast owners time to wake up) claims may be made.
  • 1 claim/drop per post
  • Forum timestamps are the tie-break in case of duplicate claim.
  • Any claims made before noon EDT (according to SoSH timestamp) won't count.
  • Only players placed on IR before the season will be eligible (I can't IR Derrick Johnson or Robert Mathis).
  • Players who retired before the season are also eligible.
  • Replacement players must primarily play on the same side of the ball.
You will NOT keep the replacement players for either IR or retirements.  They will be added back to the draft pool for next year.  You will be able to drop retired players and your IR players are added back to your roster.  This is just so you have an opportunity to have a real player to point to in end of season arguments.

This process is completely optional, if you don't want to do it you don't have to.

I just got called out on an emergency service call so I won't be here to update the spreadsheet, moderate arguments, etc.  I'll check in when I get back.

Gerald Hodges is incorrectly on my roster. Belongs to mascho, IIRC.

My understanding is that neither Alonso nor Lyerla were placed on injured reserve, and both are eligible to return this season.  If that is the case, how would it work with my two offensive linemen on the PUP list (Geoff Schwartz and Jeromey Clary) who both may miss the season, but are technically eligible to return later this year?  Could I pick up a provisional replacement in case they don't return, but that player would be wiped from my roster if the original player does return?

I was worried this might happen. Alonso is on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, not season ending IR. He should not be eligible to be replaced, as he can return after week 6.

Lyerla was released, not placed on IR or retired. He is also not eligible to be replaced. I have similar players in Victor Butler and Dmitri Patterson.

We did not agree to replace these players. I'm all for replacing guys who have been cut, but these guys should not be replaced.

IR OL Don Barclay, pick up OL Khalif Barnes, Oakland. Boone's back now (albeit playing sparingly), but J.C. Tretter's on short-term IR and Davis is banged up as well. Barnes kind of sucks but he can provide depth at both G and T.

Yeah, that's my fault for not checking the player's actual status and relying on memory. I've deleted the two mistakes above. Thanks for catching it. Rules be rules, yo.

I liked what I saw against Denver, and he's an athletic guy for 320 lbs. I think I've done OK with my previous UDFA picks.

OK as long as you ignore that Geathers, Bailey, Rogers, and Tobin barely played last year. Ryan Allen has been fine. Am I missing someone?

Geathers - 39 snaps. Bailey - 117. Rogers - 262. Tobin - 0.
Still a part of the 53. For a UDFA, that's a win in my book. They have to be doing something right to not be out on the street.

How about we turn our attention to phragle/scoops QB situation. Because its hilarious.

I just think it's funny you're tooting your horn over picking players that are technically still on rosters.

EDIT: I mean, we have 40-man rosters. It shouldn't be hard to pick players who are on 53s.

Who's this year's Clowney?

SN, I'm just fucking around. I like the UDFA's I picked up. I think they're all great depth players and on my team I need a couple to start. What's the difference between them and some JAGS? Other than the higher upside with the youngins.

In terms of Kerr, the upside is irrelevant because he's a one-year rental.

I disagree. I'll take the undrafted kid trying to prove himself over the older guy trying to stay relevant everyday.

Darnell Dockett to the IR

John Carlson,TE, AZ to replace him (essentially Eifert since he's on the partial season IR)

Also, would anyone object to me replacing the quasi-retired Jay Feely? I'm without a kicker since the Cardinals out him out to pasture. I'd make it easy and take Chandler Catanzaro - Feely's real life replacement on the Cardinals.

I'm in the same boat with Connor Barth. I'd be fine taking his real life replacement Patrick Murray.

I think that's fine. Everyone else already has a kicker and we don't want SuperNomario to mark you guys down at the end of the year for not having a complete roster.

The irony is: I don't have a kicker.
