Rather than start a new thread, as this seems to be the de facto TV conversation, I had a tech question. About 2 weeks ago, we purchased a 50 inch TCL 5 series. Liked it a lot at the price for what we ask of it- no complaints.
However, beginning about a week ago, when turning on the tv, it takes about 5-10 seconds to "find" the cable box (we have it go to the cable box as the default start up). It says "searching for signal" and "is it on"? But eventually it works, and behaves normally. Strangely, if I turn it off and right back on, it finds it immediately (like it has "warmed up")?
I have tried resetting the cable box, tried a different HDMI cable, tried different HDMI ports, made sure the connections were secure, even reset the TV to factory settings and set it up again. Hasn't fixed it. My last try, to totally rule out it being the cable box, is to move it to a different room and connect it to a different one.
I am guessing that if that doesn't work, something has gone wrong with the TV itself, which seems odd. Anyone notice anything similar or have any thoughts? First world problem and all, but annoying.
Thanks!
