ah great, we get the one IL last series of the season.

well, if this schedule stands the world would be in a much better place, it seems foolish to quibble about anything else right now.

First 2 would be wonderful. Second 2 are absolutely vital. The last one, I hope it happens. For you and millions of others.

There's an earlier bad stretch, too, from the end of May to the middle of June: Four against Houston and three against the Yankees on the road; four against Houston and three against Toronto at home; and then two on the road in Atlanta. There's a couple of breathers in there against Kansas City before it gets brutal again with TB, NYY and a West Coast swing before the break. Then coming out of the ASG is the 15 games against NYY and Toronto.

the Braves have some quirks in their schedule... all their NL West road games are backloaded to late August / September. They also have two days in a row off between Yankees and Giants at home.

also looking at this again, the Phillies are our "natural" rival next year, Braves this year. Can they just decide already?

I hate interleauge games in September. It should be all division opponents like the NFL.
Ending the year against the Nationals? That is beyond idiotic.
Someone from the AL has to play the NL in the final games of the season. More accurately, someone from the AL has to play the the NL every series of the season. Schedule can't work any other way with the current league/division alignment.

Isn't that what Baltimore, Detroit or Seattle was created for?

I don't know why that is. You know for sure games are meaningful until teams are mathematically eliminated. There's a better chance the last series is meaningless.

Another strange thing about these is that it has teams playing the same NL division in both 2020 and 2021 even though the interleague schedule is 1/3 of the games this year. Maybe because they know there’s a good chance this year doesn’t happen/finish?

I assume given Covid uncertainties even next year, they still want to minimize travel distance to the extent possible. Assuming there is still no vaccine (or at least one available to all) at the start of next season, the Red Sox and Yankees playing interleague games against the Nats, Phillies, and Mets is probably marginally safer than playing those games against, say, the Giants, Dodgers, and Padres.

They have decided. It's Phillies in odd years and Braves in even years. The Blue Jays get the other one.

The Red Sox have been in Seattle (or were going to be this year) in April or early May for several years. I'm glad to have a fall series up there. Early September in the Pacific NW is a beautiful time of year. It's just before the rain really hits, and isn't hot or muggy. It's Mon-Wed, but I'll probably be there for them.

They might not allow fans at that point even though it's 2021. I think a vaccine is still about 5 or 10 years away if that. Plus isn't Corvid 19 supposed to return with a vengeance every fall. I wonder how many years it will be before sports finally returns. ⁷

The cradle of the game.
I thought they made “permanent” the 4 day AS break? Weird to see game on Thursday again.
I remember when a 4 day AS break seemed like eternity.

I don't mind the off day/break before 2 of 3 trips to MFY - especially that 2 game jaunt in the middle of what would otherwise be a ludicrous 18-day homestand.
