NESN announced yesterday that Red Sox games are now available for live streaming through their NESNgo mobile app.

You have to be in New England (excluding Fairfield county CT) and have a current cable subscription to be able to watch, and you also need to have a subscription with one of the cable providers that are currently part of the agreement:
"TV service providers that have currently activated authentication for NESN’s live streaming include: Xfinity (Comcast), Cox Communications, MetroCast, PlayStation Vue and RCN, which collectively represent more than half of the cable subscribers in NESN’s home territory.
Other distributors have plans to authenticate NESN streaming in the coming weeks according to the network."

"Streaming offering is available without any additional costs to authenticated subscribers who already have NESN in their channel lineup from participating television providers. Viewers will need to sign in using their existing TV service provider username and password.

I am out of luck for now because we get cable through Verizon. DirecTV and Dish are two other prominent cable providers who also aren't part of this yet.

Seems like Bruins games aren't yet part of this, I wonder if they will be made available by the start of next season or not.

So what's stopping people in Massachusetts from giving their login credentials to family across the country -- or to family in Massachusetts who aren't part of the deal because they subscribe to Verizon, DirecTV or Dish?

I would assume geolocation based on IP. If you had someone in Boston with a VPN that you could use and you had a valid account, it would probably work. Seems a way to go to avoid paying the single team price on MLB.com with all of its advantages.

it worked out of the region with my comcast account. but i think that's ok; they just want you to be a subscriber (so if you're traveling, i suppose it's legit since you're already paying for the service? or maybe they don't care?).

also, wish they had a way to get it working on a television. no roku/chromecast/ps4 support. :(

This is awesome! The way my house is set up, I just can't have my cable box anywhere but my bedroom, so I've missed most games. This is the greatest day ever!

With Comcast (xfinity) you can watch all of your comcast stuff on a device while at home, or some of it if you're not. The NESN app takes care of the "some of it" part.

I'm on MetroCast, but they also have those (assuming that's the streaming version of the networks). I use those "go" networks for exactly that reason though. NESN and MLB Network were the only things missing. MLB network just isn't carried by MetroCast at all, so I use someone else's login from Cox. Now, I can add NESN back in and I can go back to watching the games regularly. I've been waiting for this for a while.

Just an FYI: I live out of market and subscribe to PlayStation Vue. I tried logging in with my Vue credentials and it worked. I'm currently getting the live NESN feed. Who knows if they'll fix this or if things will be different during actual games, but this could save me a small fortune.

Back in the day, I used to get NESN through DirecTV and it would black out during all games.

Has anybody tried to login to the NESNgo app via PS Vue and it tell you that your "cable provider does not allow you access to NESN"? I've been trying here and there since the announcement to see if they've cleared this up, but haven't had any success. It doesn't work on the iOS app or the website - and I'm located in New England.

Can anyone confirm (or deny, but preferably confirm) that this service will work with a Google Chromecast? I was thinking about getting one just to make it a bit easier on my setup. If you have a better (read: cheaper) option to get it to my TV, I'm into that, too. I have a PS4, but I don't think it'll work there without Vue, which I believe is a subscription service.

Edit: Direct access with chromecast, I mean. Not desktop sharing. The idea is to not need my PC at all.

Verizon FiOS is now supported. Got an e-mail from NESN and then tested out the app.

Man, really just need either Chromecast support or a Roku app and I'll be able to get the Sox down on my basement TV.

what about the Mi Box? its google based and you can download any android app from the playstore, would think the same app for nesn would be there.

The NESNgo app hasn't loaded on my android for at least a month. Anyone else? Won't even let me try to log in.

I am not able to on Android/chromecast either, but the same screen mirroring workaround works there as well. With android and chromecast, it used to add the screencast button on there sometimes via chrome, as if it will work, and it will connect with the Chromecast, but it will only display a message asking you to watch it on your mobile device. Now, it seems like that button doesn't show up anymore.

It seems to be intended. I don't agree with it, but it's better than the dark ages.

I have the app through my IPAD (have directtv) and I was logged on for the longest time and the quality was fine. For the past 2-3 months, I've tried to log on and it won't take my password (my direct tv app is fine). Now it says my login is locked and no one seems to know how to unlock it. Pretty frustrating.

I think I figured it out but it wasn't easy talking with support. Its something to do with the fact the app wants an email address and with the merger with ATT we now have usernames.

You need to add @slid.dum to your ATT username and then enter your password

I'm watching the trade deadline show on iPhone from California right now.

That trick seems to work with all the 3rd party apps (FOX Sports, History, Golf, ABC, etc) I was getting so frustrated and never had time to figure it out (especially when it came up and said my account was locked). Glad I could help

I've been lucky (knock on wood) with all my other apps. NBCSports and ESPN app is pretty reliable and FOX Sports hasn't been giving me trouble. My issue was with NESN and I was at the point that I was giving up.
