I think I've posted this before, but thanks to the machinations of the Sullivan-LeRoux regime and others, the Red Sox radio broadcasts for years were handled by lesser-tier stations. Unlike someone like Ernie Harwell, Ned didn't get the benefit of his games going out over a megawatt station that reached much of the flatlands of the Midwest.
