Would be over the moon over any of the Shire Sauce, War Chesters or Ruby Legs monikers. Nevertheless, here are some other options:

1. Worcester Antiquarians
2. Worcester Candlepins
3. Worcester Smiley-Faces
4. Worcester Heartthrobs
That's an interesting idea. The Worcester Paleographers.

The Springfield Isotopes
Albuquerque — sadly — already took that one, replacing one of the AAA teams of my childhood.

An honest question that has some bearing on this: what's the dominant local pronunciation of Worcester? I'm not a native, but my grandmother was born and raised there (b 1897), and she always seemed to pronounce it "Whister." But I've also heard "Wooster" and even "Worster."

Has to be this.

...On a more serious note though: John Marzano Olympic Hero said: "I say name them the Ruby Legs after the former NL team that played there."

This is a really good call.
If they go from Sox to Legs, will they wear shorts à la the 1976 White Sox? (for a very short time)

I say more of a "Wuss-ter" but I never actually lived in the immediate area, more of a metro south upbringing.

Or some variant thereof, anyway.

There was also a team in the New England League in the 1800s called the Worcester Grays. I kind of like that name, although Ruby Legs does connote red.

If it were a minor league Celts club, I'd call them the Worcester Houdinis- Bob Cousy went to HC and has lived in Worcester pretty much ever since

The Worcester Twisters ... so non-New Englanders will start pronouncing it right ... or wrong depending on who you ask.

While I attended WPI in the early 2000’s, we pronounced it “This fucking shithole.”

I hear it’s better now, though.

I like this one. Shame we can't name it after an Indian tribe can we? Apparently Worcester has had baseball since circa 1880s and their team was the Ruby Legs (per Wiki) and, the Indian tribe that settled the area was called the Nipmucs. I like the Worcester Nippers. Also gives a shout out to Al.

As an illustrious graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School I can unequivocally say that this would be terrible.

I really hope they don't go with the latter choice. I know it's Wormtown and all that but it's always been a stupid name and should be left to the brewery only.

Worcester Used Needles?

Worcester Hills Have Eyes?

Worcester Gentrification?

Okay, so I do not care for the choices that were posted as trademarks except for Ruby Legs, the worms one makes me mildly nauseous. So here are a few more offerings and a couple more others posted that I liked (like the Worcester Shires , and Big Papis, The Worcester SoSH ... among others) Okay so the Worcester Wild Cards The Worcester Wildebeests , The Worcester Red Dogs, The Worcester RedBones, The Force, (Star Wars day today) I about give up How about the Red Reveres ? The Red Lanterns? The Ruby Revolution ?

They should be named the Rusneys in honor of the guy who has spent so much of his career with the Sox AAA affiliate.
