Tough to remember a game that one player owned like this one. Coco, 10d, ended games with great plays in the playoffs, but I can't recall a guy getting the big hit and then ended the game with great d.

He really has been terrific. He should finish with 30+ hr, 100+ rbi, and has been tremendous defensively. Like everyone else on the team, he's had some bonehead moments, but on the whole, this has been quite the acquisition for Bloom.

Tremendous throw! And to unload it from running toward the fence is extra impressive.
That said, and not to take anything away from the play, but... that was not a great route for backing up that play. If he takes a deeper route, the ball probably doesn't get past him and Wendle doesn't try for third. Anyway, I'm glad he has the arm to make up for the mistake.

Also considering how terrible he looked the first month.

They have him under team control for two more years. A long term deal beyond that seems unnecessary.
This is going to be an interesting decision for Bloom. Renfroe turns 30 next January and is under team control via arbitration through the 2023 season. Do the Sox want to lock him in beyond 2023? With all of the other difficult contract issues looming, I don't think extending Renfroe makes long-term sense for the team.

Renfroe has been a joy to watch this year, for sure, and you'd think a power bat/power arm game would age well. I'd think the Sox would at least consider trading some pre-FA money for a couple of more years.

Unlike the throw to get Chapman, in last night's play all of Renfroe's momentum was going away from the infield. He had to stop, change direction and still managed 90 mph and on target. Amazing.

Wow, this board is bipolar. Two days ago, he was a dog for not backing up Verdugo on the inside the parler, now he's deserving of a big extension!

Maybe it's because April seems like it was about 7 eons ago, but I somehow forgot how poorly he started.

Totally agree. No reason to commit to biggish money for his age 34 (or more) season.

Well, if you could find examples of individual posters who swung from one extreme to the other, you'd have a point. Otherwise, the varying opinions are pretty standard for any fanbase

This is almost exactly the Steinbrenner line about Jay Buhner. "He had over 30 home runs, 100 RBI, he has a rocket for an arm!"

He hit .167/.235/.250/.485 with 1 homer in April. Since then he’s hitting .283/.336/.556/.892 with 26 homers in 105 games. Crazy turnaround

After hitting .156/.252/.393 for Tampa last year. It seemed realistic to think that he was a sub-Mendoza line hitter who was viable only against LHP. He's been an extraordinarily pleasant surprise.

What is he gonna get from arb? 10 mil? More?

Hell of an all-around season.
I don’t think he’ll get near that much in arb next year, probably more like $5-6M.

To take another outfielder who emerged out of relative mediocrity in his first arb year, Mark Canha had a 4.1-bWAR season in 2019, when he made a little over $2M, and made $4.8M through arbitration the following year (and $6.9M this year).

Renfroe’s arb1 baseline is $3.1M this year, and he’s at 2.6 bWAR. My guess is that he’d make maybe $5.5M in 2022 and roughly $8-9M or so in 2023 if he continues this kind of production.

If he continues his current type of production for three years at those numbers, you're at ~ (or less than) $2M/win. That *is* a good signing!

Got the 30 HR. See if he can get a couple more RBI's in the next few games
