Resolution/Font Issue

All of the sudden the font on my computer changed.  I didn't intentionally adjust anything.  Now everything looks cloudy and less clear.  I've screwed around with the resolution settings but that didn't fix it.  I thought maybe I changed the default font for my browser or something but that doesn't seem to be it either.  Any ideas?

Still running XP by any chance ? See the link in my post regarding MS Update 2 days ago, that's the exact symptom of Update KB 3013455 with some old OSes

I'm running Vista still on this computer but I uninstalled the update and it went back to normal.  You're the man.

This may be the first time I ever gave computer help.
 
Go click on the link in the other thread that Couperin started.  It tells you the update number that's causing the problem.  Then go to control panel/programs/view installed updates.  Look for the update number from the article.  Right click and uninstall.  After you restart it should be fixed.

Glad it wasn't just me. It's not bad enough to break my web browsing experience, but it was annoying and was only showing up with certain sites, so I wasn't sure if it was me or the sites. Thanks for the info.

Mine did an auto update and reinstalled this piece of shit so I have to uninstall it again.  What the fuck is wrong with MS?

This is why I've advocated you set updates to 'just inform me' for years. It's just doing what you told the OS to do.  Letting it autoupdate is convenient, but it comes down to who do you want to have in control of your computer... These days you give any MS updates 2-3 days for the shit to be detected before you install, if Google is silent, then it's OK. Remember: MS isn't even really obligated to or doing extensive testing what they do on anything prior to 7 anymore....

Mine never came back so I have no clue. Did you try sorting the updates by date and see if anything was installed in the last couple days?

I was able to fix it by uninstalling all the updates from the last few days, and unchecking the box that said "automatic updates" and by ordering a copy of Windows 7 for my work machine.

Microsoft has released a fix for this issue:

I've installed it on a number of servers at work and it has resolved the issue.
 
When you choose the appropriate download package to install, it will take you to a page titled with the offending KB3013455 fix that created the issue in the first place.  When you choose to download, there will be two files listed for download.  The file for KB3037639 is the one that fixes the issue.
