His fiance Shailene Woodley is a big promoter of "alternative" health treatments, so this is not a huge shocker. Rogers isn't quite Kyrie Irving-level off, but he's getting there. At least Kyrie openly talks about his "alternative" view points.

Here is the thing that kills me, complimentary and alternative medicine is a legit thing (I used to be a public health researcher before moving into health IT) and is effective - see acupuncture for treatment of swelling - but is is COMPLIMENTARY not REPLACEMENT. It made huge differences in my recovery from multiple joint reconstructions and arthritis. Homeopathy also gives a lot of populations who have had historically poor treatment by the medical establishment, life African-Americans, an avenue to medical treatment that isn't systematically exploitative. Shitheads like Rogers, Brady (water prevents sunburns!), and Wilson (concussion water!) delegitimize complimentary and alternative medicine. Fuck him and his ilk.

I have always felt a little bad for Rodgers because so much of his career was wasted with a clown of a coach and a terrible GM. But no more.
He has proven himself to be a clown as well. Homeopathy….LOL. The fact that he thought this was a suitable alternative and/or that it would pass muster with a rigid COVID protocol is astounding. That he played silly word games and lied to avoid criticism rather than owning up to his shitty ideas is just the cherry on top.

Rodgers seriously thought that him using a healing crystal would get him exempt from needing to be vaccinated.

I'm sure they will file that data right next to the air pressure samples after Deflategate.

If Aaron Rodgers tears his ACL when he comes back from COVID, is he going to have reconstructive surgery to repair the ACL under the care of a physician? Or rub some oil on it and hope that works? Not denigrating homeopathic methods, but these fuckwads would run to an actual doctor the second science and modern medicine would help them recover from an injury to extend their careers, but somehow have no use for it now.

Well in this case not getting vaccinated could cost him playing time as well. So it's even dumber that he didn't get the shot because he has to miss at least 10 days instead of only needing 2 negatives. I have zero sympathy. Anyone who doesn't get a shot at this point should suffer the consequences.

The NFL will do what they did to the Raiders/Titans last year, fine them a couple 100k and call it a day

I would love it if people's personal opinions and judgement of others related to Covid could stay out of this forum and stay in V&N.
I come here to read about NFL News and Transaction.
Thanks.

If the NFL was aware of him violating protocols and didn't do anything, it will quite certainly prove to be a "small" rather than "big" thing.
We're talking about Roger "We have the best partners in media!" Goodell here, and that media partner certainly wanted nothing to get in the way of a Rodgers-Murray tilt last week.

Wow, first Mike Richards, then Bialik's old tweets, now this. Jeopardy really needs to do a better job vetting their hosts. This proves that Levar Burton should play QB for the Packers.
Rodgers is one great teammate. He knows how important he is to the team, but still prioritized his quack beliefs over doing what's best for himself and his team.

I'm a big Packers fan but also from a generation that firmly believes in vaccines. Rodgers will miss 1 game and likely 2 given the ten-day requirement. He has always seemed like a good teammate, especially this year. It's disappointing. I'll continue to love him as a player but not so much as a person. Cancel my StateFarm coverage! For those of you who don't know the Packers backup, it's Jordan Love, who played for 3 years at Utah State before the Packers surprisingly (to me anyway), traded up in the 2020 first round to nab him. Jordan hasn't played any meaningful snaps in his career but did get in during Q4 of the Packers first game blowout by the Saints and handled himself okay (5/7 for 68 yards and a 102 QB rating). Last week, the Packers stepped up to beat the undefeated Cardinals on a short week with 11 starters missing. This week will be even more challenging because Love is no Rodgers. I saw that Vegas moved the line 6 points and that seems about right; that the Packers are a TD worse without Rodgers. If you have Aaron Jones on your fantasy team, play him this week. Oh, and Blake Bortles was pulled off the golf course and signed to be the backup to Love (the Packers' 3rd QB is also out due to Covid). I jokingly was about to write that the silver lining is that Mrs. Bortles would be happy, and found "Lindsey Duke" (former girlfriend and current internet influencer). Yowsa! and don't respond with "um, pics?"; you know how to google.

Makes you wonder what The Authorities would find if they decided to excavate the crawl space underneath Trebek's place.

Last season’s MVP apparently lied about his vaccination status regarding a highly communicable disease that caused a global pandemic killing over 5 million people and 750,000 Americans. And now he has it and possibly transmitted it to teammates or other staff.

That’s more directly sports news than Watson’s alleged sexual assaults, isn’t it? Discussions of motivations and condemnations of that behavior were commonplace in that thread without a similar complaints from the 99.9%, right?

Hey, Oscillococcinuim is pretty popular among the homeopathic crowd to treat Covid. It’s made from duck parts. Quack, quack.
Duck liver to be precise. A friend once recommended it when I had the flu. It did absolutely nothing beneficial, but I had the most voluminous and foul smelling bathroom breaks of my life.

So let's say Love starts two games and....isn't good? Where do the Packers go from there? The plan seemed to be to move on from Rodgers after this year (although it looks like there will be a big cap hit if they do so) so do they then try to roll with him for one more year, then he walks in the void year of the deal?

Love was such an weird pick, even without the move up to get him. You dont draft a QB to sit for four years, you draft one to start (on his rookie deal) and use the money to shore up other positions. I dont think Rodgers reacted to it like a professional should, but up to now it has been a wasted draft pick.

I'd love love to see Love kick ass and Wally Pipp Rodgers.

I wonder what Love thinks about all the rookie QBs thrown into the fire since he was drafted. There have been quite a few.

Hopefully, he plays well and it wasn't a wasted pick.

I still don't get how Rodgers was allowed to play that Thursday October 28 game against Arizona. Davante Adams was announced as out on October 25 because of a positive COVID test, Rodgers is unvaxxed, and they played together on Sunday October 24 - how was Rodgers not considered a close contact of Adams?

They did it with Rodgers too, when they had Favre.

Sorry but this is cracking me up. Although any treatment that included "my, you look handsome today" would certainly elevate my mood so maybe it does qualify as an alternative health treatment?

I have interacted with a few of the woo woo set here in Denver. Interesting, weird convos.

Evander Kane got around a 20 game NHL suspension for faking a vax card. Wonder what happens here.

Rodgers had gone into a decline the last couple years with McCarthy and hadn't rebounded the first year with LaFleur. It was reasonable to think they'd trade him after the 2020 season given his cap hit, but he went off and had an MVP year, which allowed him to pull the non-report this summer (by the way, I side with Rodgers in that the team could have given him more weapons or a better D to get to the Super Bowl rather than burring a 1st and 3rd to get Love). The situations are different with Favre/Rodgers vs. Rodgers/Love in that Rodgers was considered a 1-1 talent who had proven himself in a major conference and was pretty ready to step in as needed. Love led the nation in INTs his senior year and was considered a round 2 talent who had no 2020 preseason games and only played in two this year. He just hasn't had many QB1 reps.

He didn't fake anything though, really all he's done is not follow mask protocol in media interviews, and mislead people, the league has known he was unvaxxed since they denied his waiver request. So really all they'll do is the same they did to other teams whose players didn't follow mask policy... fine them.

Thanks for the clarification. Who was he misleading, his teammates and the team?

From the sounds of it, the media/public. Word is when in the facility he followed the rules, but he didn't when there were cameras, combined with the whole: "Are you vaccinated", "yeah, I'm immunized, other guys aren't vaccinated it's their decision" stuff makes it pretty clear he just didn't want to have to deal with any questions or criticism, which is on brand since he's super thin-skinned.

Basically he didn't want to get vaccinated, but didn't want anyone to know, so he broke the rules everytime someone outside the team could see him, and the Packers chose to do nothing, so the league will likely have to step in with fines, since their policy is the team is supposed to enforce things, and the league will punish teams that fail to do so.

I'd love love to see Love kick ass and Wally Pipp Rodgers.
My reaction was that he's too good to be Pipped and that's really more for average players, and I got wondering about who is the best player in any sport to be Wally Pipped?

Gotta be Bledsoe, right?

Alex Smith got Pipped twice, first by Kapernick and then Mahomes, although Mahomes didn't really take over because Smith got injured.

I want to say Joe Montana was “pipped” by Steve Young, but ideally you’re talking about a short term injury, and Montana was injured for nearly two years. Unitas was injured for most of the ‘68 season but Shula stuck with Earl Morrall even when Unitas was able to return, until halftime at SB III.

He wasn't the best player to get Pipped, but Trent Green getting Pipped by Warner was a great story.

Dak Prescott Pipped Tony Romo, and in a way that we might call it “getting Romo-ed” if not for the historical baseline of Gehrig-Pipp…I’m not a football expert but think I’ve heard talk of Romo being a possible HOF candidate, if you are looking for a high quality candidate.
