Could easily derail Green Bay’s season, particularly if he’s laboring when he returns. GJGE, dude.

If you scroll down on Rap's tweet, there's some conflicting info. He said previously he was immunized, which could be considered him getting cute with word choices, but then he pretty clearly contrasts himself with unvaxxed teammates.

ROdgers was playing word games. He was asked if he was vaccinated, and responded that he was immunized, hoping people would assume vaccinated, when really he's one of those.. "I got it before so I'm immunized" guys.

It doesn't appear to be just word games. Based on this Tweet and the replies underneath, he hasn't been following protocols for unvaccinated players (e.g. masking on the sidelines like other unvaccinated Packers). I'm guessing the NFL will pretend that this situation doesn't exist, but he should be suspended for a long time.

Rodgers fits the profile of the natural medicine, Santa Monica anti-vaxer. His girlfriend eats clay.

They should absolutely suspend him. What a load of bullshit.

Edit - Wait, that Tweet doesn't say he's been doing one or the other, does it?

Could also just as easily mean a million other things, like he was taking oleander or vitamin C.

Hey you leave Santa Monica out of this! :)

Confusing situation re: Rodgers, but if he's automatically out until Nov 13 at a minimum he must be unvaccinated. Wonder if this gets ugly re: protocols etc....

He lied/got cute with the media about his vax status, but it doesn't sound like he lied to the team/league since he immediately went into the unvaxxed protocol.

Him following the unvaxxed protocols all year is another story, however.

Rodgers is a fucking asshole - he deliberately lied when asked a direct question. The "immunized" line is some BS

It was a direct question and a direct answer

Who followed it up with this load of horseshit. Don't worry he won't be judging himself. That's coward shit right there - don't want to come and say it, and pretend you are vaccinated so you won't get criticized?

If he wasn't following unvaxxed protocols there should definitely be some repercussions for both Rodgers and the Packers. However I'm guessing this will be swept under the rug by the league and there's no punishment or just a small fine to the Packers or something.

Also if I was the Cardinals I'd be pissed too. I'd find it hard to believe that Rodgers wasn't a close contact with Adams and therefore shouldn't have been allowed to play last Thursday. Lazard is also unvaxxed and he wasn't allowed to play against the Cards due to being a close contact.

Definitely Monday Morning Quarterbacking, but it would have been great if there had been a follow-up question given that the word "vaccinated" has a narrower definition than "immunized". On the other hand, he directly answered "yes", so fuck him.

From Rodger's perspective he either had it and is thus "immunized", has Tiger's blood or some other nonsense and is thus "immunized", or is flat out lying. Whether he is bothering to rationalize it or not that is some reckless behavior and the NFL should make sure it bites him and the Packers.

Edit -- IMO a proper punishment would not be a suspension. Huge fine to the team (ownership pocket) and/or draft pick (organization). Punishing the individual in this case would harm the team, of course, but that won't be true for other individual infractions. Hit the owner/org to truly make a statement.

Of course, this will not happen.

Florio absolutely tearing Rodgers a new one here:

And it wasn’t just his cagey use of the term “immunized,” followed by his vow to not judge a group to which he secretly belonged. A G.M. with another team tried to tell me weeks ago that Rodgers isn’t vaccinated. I looked up photos of Rodgers from the preseason, standing on the sideline in street clothes. (The photo attached to this article comes from one of those games.) He wasn’t wearing a mask. I told my source that this means that Rodgers was vaccinated. In actuality, it means that he was deliberately and flagrantly violating COVID policies to create the impression that he’s vaccinated.
What other protocols did he violate? Was he fined for it? How often was he fined? What other consequences were imposed or threatened?

And why? Why not just be openly unvaccinated?

Here’s why. Rodgers abhors criticism. If he’d been open about his unvaccinated status, he would have heard about it from the media. And so the guy who is so sensitive that he’s sensitive about being called sensitive chose to create the false impression that he’s vaccinated, all because he didn’t want anyone to call him out for not being vaccinated.

That makes it much worse. He deliberately violated COVID protocols in order to keep secret his status — in order to avoid being criticized. And he surely will now use his various platforms to argue that people like me shouldn’t have a platform to criticize him for not being vaccinated, and for endangering others in order to perpetrate his ruse. Which is exactly what he did.
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/11/03/aaron-rodgers-was-secretly-unvaccinated/

This kind of bums me out because I have generally liked Rodgers throughout his career and think he is one of the more interesting guys in the sport. But there has also been all sorts of red flags, from the fact that none of his family talk to him to some of the stuff that happened with the Packers this off-season.

He underwent "alternate treatment" for Covid - whatever that BS is

Rodgers petitioned the NFL to have an alternate treatment that he underwent before he returned to the Packers that would allow him to be considered the same as someone who received one of the approved vaccinations, sources told ESPN. After a lengthy back and forth, the league ruled that Rodgers would not get the same consideration and would be considered unvaccinated.
Sources said Rodgers follows masking protocols while interacting with players and coaches inside the team's headquarters at Lambeau Field. However, Rodgers does not wear a mask while in the media auditorium during his weekly and postgame press conferences. The Packers have put other unvaccinated players on Zoom instead of in-person media sessions.
So we can endanger media no problem? Some real BS by the league and Packers as well. All fucking cowards.

No disagreement that it's been half a decade since Beckham was truly elite nor that the Browns look stupid for trading for him (nor that he's in a phase of his career where he is better off keeping his/his dad's mouth shut). But the growing 'OBJ was only ever the catch' narrative is equally ridiculous. Maybe that's not exactly what you're saying, but I've seen it elsewhere and it's revisionist history to the extreme. Take away the optics of the catch and he still has 3 seasons of 1300+ yards (good for 10th, 5th, and 3rd in the league) and 2 more seasons of 1000+ yards (one in only 12 games). That his career has been a relative disappointment after a Mossian beginning is one thing, but his peak was not limited to the rookie breakout. Wouldn't shock me at all if he's a top 20ish receiver again at his next stop.
I definitely wasn't saying he's never been awesome. There was a time when he was one of, if not the, most dangerous player on the field. He was unbelievably elite. In 2015. But without that catch, people would actually look at the numbers and realize Odell has been decent or poor for years.

Rappaport doing damage control.

As people have pointed out, this is obviously untrue given he has not been wearing masks during media avails and press conferences.
NFL has knowingly let him violate protocols. This is a big one.
NFL leadership and boys club culture is even worse than NHL. I hope heads roll on this one too, but the NFL "in-group" seems to be able to get away with anything they want.

I just need to say it...can you imagine if this was Brady?
Well, it *was* Brady last year. He had an injured knee throughout most of the season, which was serious enough to require off-season surgery. And he was never, not once, put on the pre-game injury list as required by the league. To my knowledge, Tampa Bay was not penalized for this.

I really really hope that it becomes absolutely lock confirmed that the NFL knew Rodgers was unvaccinated and allowed him to operate outside unvaxxed protocol requirements. I want it to be crystal clear that they just do whatever they want and don't even pretend to apply their own rules consistently.

meant more from a public outrage /"suspend him"/"doug throw him off the tour" perspective. And no, lying about your vaccination status for a disease that you can readily transmit to other people and not explicitly listing a knee injury aren't the same thing lol

I don't understand how the league isn't at least confirming unvaccinated players are wearing masks on the sidelines. Obviously league officials aren't at every team facility during practice and preparation but it would seem to be easy to just walk down the sideline on game day and make sure the unvaxxed guys have masks on.

Just tell me you're not comparing a knee injury to a highly contagious and deadly virus.

The injury list is basically for gamblers only, Covid protocols are a matter of public health.

masks aren't actually required on the sidelines this year under the new rules, that was last year, the new rules are slightly different.

Not comparing the two. Just using the injury report one as an example how the NFL picks and chooses which rules it wants (or doesn't want) to enforce. There have been plenty of teams that have been fined by the league for not reporting, or misreporting-injuries.

Believe Brady did violate some covid protocols last year - either using facilities or practicing off campus with new teammates. But the poor us routine is old and junior highish anyways.

I thought Hawaii had very strict entrance protocols for a long time (he had that infamous trip in May), but maybe he technically was quarantining at his destination. It's disappointing as my kid who has loved him since he was 6 got the vaccine as soon as 16-year-olds were eligible, and now he's reading about this mumbo jumbo homeopathic nonsense regarding a deadly incredibly contagious virus from someone he thought was really smart.

ETA: Homeopathic methods have their place, I know. Homeopathic method of relieving awful cough -- two teaspoons of local honey several times a day -- worked wonders for me while dealing with recent non-COVID virus.

I have always felt a little bad for Rodgers because so much of his career was wasted with a clown of a coach and a terrible GM. But no more.
