He’s not getting cut, and he’s not retiring. He’s going to catch a few more days of leather over this, then he returns to the field, and it’s largely forgotten in fairly short order. That’s not how I think it should go, but that’s how it will go.
I think you can count the number of posters who think he's getting cut on Dravecky's left handHe’s not getting cut
The Ballad of Dave Dravecky was one of the first baseball stories I heard, from the baseball card days. That and Elvis Presley’s third cousin in the Mets farm system.I think you can count the number of posters who think he's getting cut on Dravecky's left hand
Yeah, I’m under no such illusions myself, though I’m hoping there’s an outside chance Rodgers just Wally Pipped himself.I think you can count the number of posters who think he's getting cut on Dravecky's left hand
This, plus we've seen time and time again that those who have a lot of money never have enough. Everything's relative and people always have ambition.Just a guess, but trying to become Jeopardy host and shilling for companies on television don’t seem to be about money. As you pointed out, he has plenty of it already. He clearly wants to be in the limelight—as many egomaniacs do. This blowup is likely to narrow his options for doing so upon retirement and so, yes, it’s not a stretch to imagine that this hurts his post-NFL career.
He's obviously not getting cut. I think the only question is how much this hurts his image and off-field opportunities. He’s not getting cut, and he’s not retiring. Yeah, Schilling gets first second and third choice of bunks on that bed.He and Schilling share bunk beds in the room for smug, ignorant, and dangerous assholes, as far as I’m concerned.
Edit: a Costanza-like rant, but I’m leaving it.
You forgot the TexansHe's clearly leaving Green Bay after the season for one of the Florida teams, Atlanta, Carolina or New Orleans given his stance.
Not really. They expect to be able to use Watson again, clearly. You forgot the Texans
Nice turn of phrase:I know most of y'all are Celtics fans, and all - but Kareem flays Rodgers alive in this substack piece.
It's glorious.
Instead of consulting immunologists, he consulted anti-vaxxer and podcast host Joe Rogan, who also contracted the virus. If he ever requires open-heart surgery will he hand the scalpel to romance writers because they know about matters of the heart?
It's a great piece and I know I should never click on the comments section of any website or blog, but my God, reading those comments....we are all doomed.I know most of y'all are Celtics fans, and all - but Kareem flays Rodgers alive in this substack piece.

The comments sections are all filled with trolls. The only people who will respond are trolls who live online and live to troll because they are angry and they hate. It's a great piece and I know I should never click on the comments section of any website or blog, but my God, reading those comments....we are all doomed.
That last clause. Twist the knife, big fella. He also expressed concern over fertility issues, even though there is a greater risk of infertility from COVID-19, which he has.
My guess is that most of them are on his side empathy-wise, if not so stubborn as to not get vaccinated. But where are the active players calling out Rodgers? There's been an awful lot of cowardice amongst sports leaders on this topic, which I think Kareem is getting at in referencing Kaepernick at the end.
I mean, what would expect from a guy rocking a "The Rise of Skywalker" hoodie.Oy vey, half assed “sorry to all the dumb people out there” “apology.”

The Jedi are notoriously anti-vaxxers. They believe that a mysterious force in the universe will protect them from evil. What’s the significance of the sweatshirt?
The Rise of Skywalker is to JJ Abrams as last week's interview is to Aaron Rodgers: people kinda had an inkling you thought you were a lot smarter than you actually were, but then you had to go ahead and remove all doubt. What’s the significance of the sweatshirt?
By leading the Packers to a 13-4 record while throwing 39 TDs and 5 picks. No one will care in January, unfortunately.Getting pretty heavy Counselor Dexhart from Parks and Rec vibes here. The first interview was it coming out that he had four-way sex in a Brazilian cave while pretending to build houses for the underprivileged. This is where he defends it by saying it was his birthday, and he "really wanted to do it."
I really don't know how Rodgers comes back from this.
That's his best way forward, but there's no way he gets back to what his local and national profile was a month ago. That's gone for good now.By leading the Packers to a 13-4 record while throwing 39 TDs and 5 picks. No one will care in January, unfortunately.
It's definitely taken a hit. But it's hard to say it's gone for good. Never say never, I guess. But I can't imagine he hasn't taken a hit, he's been getting crushed in many spots and he should be. He's shady and it is disappointing. That's his best way forward, but there's no way he gets back to what his local and national profile was a month ago. That's gone for good now.
On Rusillo's pod this morning, Trent Dilfer said he expected in the locker room, most players would love what Rodgers did. They're all sick and tired of the league and the union telling them what to do, and they'd further support his sticking it to the media. The coaches and the league may not be amused, but the players will be.Kareem has had a few good takedowns, including on Kyrie.

I don't know, I would hope that the players who followed the protocol (vaccinated or unvaccinated) would be annoyed at him for being duplicitous about it. It's been said before but Kyrie is a space cadet but at least he owns it. Rodgers wanted to do whatever he wanted but not be held accountable for the decision. On Rusillo's pod this morning, Trent Dilfer said he expected in the locker room, most players would love what Rodgers did. I'm afraid Dilfer's probably right.
This might be the case for some players, but everything about the sport that is militaristic has been drilled into them since playing Pop Warner, and they generally have no problem following rules and orders. Others, however, know that the Giant Thumb of the Shield is on the scales in Rodgers's favor, and shitting on the league darling is a bad way to enhance your career prospects. On Rusillo's pod this morning, Trent Dilfer said he expected in the locker room, most players would love what Rodgers did. Few will care in a few months when Rodgers is on parade float with Mickey Mouse at DisneyWorld after he’s named Super Bowl MVP. He will get the label of “Controversial” when he retires and people write glowing articles of his life and career.I really don't know how Rodgers comes back from this.
Yep.Few will care in a few months when Rodgers is on parade float with Mickey Mouse at DisneyWorld after he’s named Super Bowl MVP. He will get the label of “Controversial” when he retires and people write glowing articles of his career.
Thats putting it lightly...so just to be sure the only way they're ever actually going to take draft picks is if the team won a Super Bowl in recent years.
The league is stupid and every punishment is arbitrary
This is pathetic. Creates zero incentive to abide by the rules.
I am sure that is an agreed upon punishment for a first time offense in the agreement between NFLPA and the NFL. It's a pipe dream, just like any thoughts that Rogers will be "finished" by this whole thing. It sucks and I wish he had more punishment coming at him, but that is the rule the union brokered and that's the best we can hope for.I'm sure that Aaron learned his lesson when he lost 14k. What a fucking joke. A game suspension should have been the minimum.
You're right, but the question is whether his violation of protocol for nine weeks constitutes repeat violations, which can subject a player to the penalties below per the NFL COVID agreement:I am sure that is an agreed upon punishment for a first time offense in the agreement between NFLPA and the NFL. Repeat violations of the offenses listed above will subject players to increased discipline, including for conduct detrimental with a maximum fine amount equal to one week’s salary and/or suspension without pay for a period not to exceed four (4) weeks, as set forth in Article 42, Section 1(b)(xvii) of the March 15, 2020 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
