I was hoping someone else shared this news bc doing so really sucks. I was made aware earlier today that longtime SoSH member and Port Cellar contributor Rocco Graziosa (Scott to many of us) passed away last night.

As many of you know, Rocco was an enormous part of this community and in particular the Port Cellar since the early 2000’s. He hadn’t been active in many years but those who were here back in the day surely have memories of him. He was a good guy in real life and this really stinks.

This blows. I think this guy has a HS age daughter(think I read about him taking her to the garden) and was not that old himself.

fuck, he was such a mainstay around here. The guy truly loved the Celtics and loved talking about them. RIP.

What was the wager over which he said he'd "eat a log of his own shit" if it came to pass?

If Spelunker is a half-lurker, I'm 7/8 one...but this news still sucks. Condolences to his family and his friends, especially the ones here.

long time lurker, I fifth the idea that Rocco was a forum legend, one of the reasons I kept reading the Celtics forum here back in the day. Rest in peace

RIP Rocco. He really livened up the cellar back in the days pre-Big 3. IIRC he was antsy for any sign of movement and advocated for trading our few assets for an aging Iverson among other deals. Fun arguments. Here’s to his enthusiasm and knowledge.

Well, Ike his namesake, he certainly could offend a motherfucker but he was a good and passionate dude. Really sorry to see this, I liked him.

“Here's the 911 call placed by New York Yankees pitcher David Wells moments after he was punched out during a brawl last September in a diner on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

According to prosecutors, the 6'4", 240-pound athlete was sucker-punched by Rocco Graziosa, a 5'7", 150-pound troublemaker now on trial for assault (during the 911 call, the 39-year-old pitcher describes his assailant as a "fucking Italian, little squatty-body motherfucker").

On the tape, Wells--who lost two teeth in the fight--repeatedly slurs his words, curses at the operator, and reports, "My emergency is I just got offended.“

And his explanation for why be wouldn’t make good on his pledge is, to me, one of the most memorable posts in the board’s history.

Wow. Rough. RIP.

Oh wow. Scott was a great guy who lived for his daughter. We definitely need to retire his avatar into the rafters. This makes me super sad to hear.

I haven’t thought of him in years, but he was a unique poster that brought a lot to the board. This sucks.

Very sad to hear that---I remember when NBA talk around here was a single thread in the General Sports forum and Rocco was a big part of what enabled the discussion to elevate to a separate forum, and then as many know a dedicated board focused on Celtics/NBA. Tremendously knowledgeable hoops guy with a lot of passion and I've missed his takes (as much not agreeing with them as agreeing!) over the last few years as he moved away from posting.

Thoughts to the family and a major loss.

Well. I hope Saint Peter is persuaded…

Would love to read the explanation (or any of his other classic posts) again, if anyone can track it down. Always appreciated his passion.

Sigh. RIP,, Rocco!

My recollection was that it was even a lower bar than that and was more along the lines of "if Ainge went all in" but I could be wrong. Long time ago, right around when I first started lurking. I'm guessing Rocco was a big fan of POBOBS' ruthless work to date.

One of the great SoSH anti-heroes and certainly one of the patron saints of this particular forum. Really sad to hear this, RIP.

That's terrible. Always appreciated his basketball insights and will still remember meeting him briefly in a parking lot as I had bought Pats tickets off of him for opening night in 2005 (banner raise).

He had given me his "gambling bible" back in 2005, and this prompted me to try to re-find it. unfortunately I think it got eaten in the transition from the old board... bummer.

Oh no! This is really terrible news. I got to know Scott a bit from his FB page and he really seemed like a fun, high-energy guy who loved his daughter more than anything else in this world.

Just a shock. It's awful. I'm so sad about this.

This one hurts. Scott and I became friendly IRL and he lived in the town next to mine. I've been to a few Celtics games with him and watched a bunch of sporting events with him. He would always randomly text me about a game he was watching or a sports tidbit. And always on Christmas and my birthday.

My favorite thing in life is passion. Scott had more passion for sports than anyone I know. I would marvel at him racing to his computer or phone to check a stat mid-game or google something he remembered. He would get so fired up and you couldn't help but be sucked in by his enthusiasm. He has a daughter in college who was his absolute world. My heart is broken for her.

RIP my friend. Thank you for all of your encouragement and always sharing your passion with me.

Yeah, I remember it as "If Ainge played a hand" (by trading some assets for a star player). And then of course we traded for Ray Allen and KG.

RIP to a SOSH legend.

Oh no. RIP Rocco, very sad news.

IMO SOSH needs a separate Valhalla forum for honoring posters like this when we lose them, where we can post memories and tributes. Maybe include meaningful athletes or media folk like Remy when we lose them too.
