I know it is early, but the manager's substitution patterns are nonsensical -- starting Plawecki against a hard-throwing lefty such as Means while Vaz plays 1B is Grady-level shit. It's not too early to wonder if Roenicke is in over his head.

I also think the recent fisticuffs in the locker room between Sale and Workman over who has the biggest [hands] has to be laid at the skipper's feet as well. The clubhouse is toxic.

I know you're joking but I've already thought that if this season is cancelled, which it will be, who do the Sox hire for real?

It was really disturbing on a lot of levels when Roenicke got ejected from yesterday's game, then came back and sat in the dugout wearing a fake beard and tried to pretend he was some other guy.

Letting Eovaldi throw 157 pitches in his first start may have been questionable also.

Agreed. That was the part that really bothered me. There's a kid over here, Fujinami, same draft class as Ohtani and same potential. But the Hanshin Tigers regularly made him throw 140+ pitches in ST and in early April starts in the cold. Now guess what? The kid has corona. Last thing we need is Eovaldi getting the corona and giving it to the rest of the team.

In all seriousness - if the 2020 season is severely cut back or cancelled, his expected one season suspension pushes his availability back into mid-2021 or later, doesn't it?
AJ Hinch and Jeff Luhnow are apparently serving their suspensions regardless of the state of the season. This article says if the season isn't played, they'll still be considered to have served their time.

Former Houston Astros manager A.J. Hinch and ex-Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow will fulfill their one-season suspensions for the team's sign-stealing scandal even if no baseball is played in 2020, sources told ESPN's Buster Olney on Thursday.
Presumably the same would go for Cora. Of course, that's also presuming that Manfred gets off his ass before 2021 and actually announces the results of the investigation into the Sox.

Mike Cubbage.. I still think he would have made a better manager than Grady Little. It's too bad than he never got a chance other than the first couple of days of spring training in 2002.

I never thought I'd compare Valentine favorably to any Sox manager, but at least Bobby V. didn't do this (sorry, paywalled):

During the sixth inning of Boston's extra-innings loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, Manager Ron Roenicke had to be escorted from the Rogers Centre field by Red Sox staffers after being ejected. Roenicke was seen shouting into the stands by the first base, "I'm the best Roenicke! I'm the only Roenicke!" and gesturing at a group of spectators.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Chicago Cubs scout and former MLB outfielder Gary Roenicke was in attendance and may have been the target of Ron Roenicke's tirade.

I really doubt Cora or Hinch will ever manage again, for any team. Cheating to win a WS is not something that can be forgiven.

It's a shame the Roenicke brothers are feuding like that now. But Ron seems a little unstable, I heard a rumor that he saw Pedro Martinez in the clubhouse and charged at him, trying to attack him. Luckily Pedro was easily able to just shove him to the ground.

Actually I thought it was brilliant. 157 pitch 9 inning complete game saves that staff as the next three starts are scheduled as bullpen games.

Add to all this the fact that the Sox have ZERO wins so far this season. This is simply not acceptable.
