Let's see them earn more than that, I can't believe by May 1 I am up to deleting entire games from my DVR without watching a pitch.

This feeble feeble lineup against Rays pitching this weekend seems almost unfair, give TB the series and everyone stay home and get some rest.

From the previous thread...

Volpe has hit 2 balls over 100 mph today, both outs. I guess all things considered, that's a good thing.
I haven't been watching much but was cool to see not just Volpe leading off the other day, but Peraza right behind him.

Everything that can possibly go wrong with this team will go wrong. It's actually kind of impressive.

Bader activated for his season debut. He was only 3 for 25 in his AA/AAA rehab but he should help the defense right away at least.

That's an interesting question. I suspect Bader will stay at CF where I think he is most comfortable. More comfortable in the field is hopefully more comfortable at the plate.

I'd like to see IKF in LF. If he isn't going to hit, I think he's probably pretty damn motivated to learn and be at least be above average at as many defensive positions as possible.

That would be useful. The less the Yankees feel they need to use Hicks, the better.

I guess here is as good as any to ask this question and I'm basing it on Jon's OP comment about deleting games from the DVR. I've got a lot going on distracting me from baseball but I'm also not feeling the draw at the moment to watch this team. Is this just a non-exciting team? I didn't feel the pull even when they didn't suck 2 weeks ago. I don't think I've seen more than an inning over the last week. Last year I might have watched every game except a few.

It’s pretty hard to watch a team with a dead offense, this team has had a dead offense for a few weeks now.

Also, any NBA fans, it’s the most balanced and open postseason since probably the late seventies, maybe ever, and there are 2-4 games on almost every night. And I don’t even watch hockey…

Even if you didn't have stuff going on, I think it is understandable just based on the team taking the field right now. Starters are injured. Relievers are injured. And of course there are injuries in the lineup, though it is nice to see Bader back. The kids are playing and can be fun to watch, but they're all learning on the job and are a bit inconsistent. Even Volpe.

And obviously the results haven't been there the last couple of weeks. Collectively, it's a good recipe for disengagement.

For me personally, I've been more preoccupied with NHL and NBA playoffs. But I'll be tuning in more after the Knicks and Sixers are done.

Jake Bauers tries again for his first AB for NY, Peraza is sitting too much. Play the kid, figure out a way! I know Calhoun hit the winning HR yesterday, but he really seems like a poor use of a roster spot, a DH-only who can't hit much.

1 SS Anthony Volpe
2 2B Gleyber Torres
3 1B Anthony Rizzo
4 3B DJ LeMahieu
5 DH Willie Calhoun
6 CF Harrison Bader
7 RF Jake Bauers
8 LF Isiah Kiner-Falefa
9 C Kyle Higashioka

Happy to see IKF in LF. Hope he looks good there and the Yankees are one step closer to getting rid of Hicks.

Peraza and Bader are out of the game with injuries, no idea how serious. The Yankees manage to get to Clase just enough to tie it up in the bottom of the 9th and Abreu pitches well in the 10th.

It sure would be nice for the Yankees to score the ghost runner and end this quickly before anyone else gets hurt.

I didn't see either one but apparently Bader was a collision with IKF and Peraza's was on the stolen base, and looked like it might be bad.

Bader went neck first into KF's midsection when both dove for Gonzalez's bloop single. Peraza stumbled on the way to his stolen base and was no longer in position to control his slide so he went into second standing up and twisted his ankle. Fortunately for him, Mike Zunino is completely useless behind the plate and still can't throw out a guy who nearly fell on his face.

The Bader play looked to me like a situation where IKF showed his lack of experience in the outfield and playing with Bader. Not IKF's fault, per se, but he was hustling trying to make a diving catch but should have let Bader just be the one to go for it.

Anyway, I hope Bader is OK.

I wasn't watching but also IKF just missed the ball on the previous play, and a catch in either instance would have ended the game, so that's why he was going for it a bit irrationally.

The game was tied, it wouldn't have been over. Jomboy kept making this same mistake on Talkin Yanks and they never corrected it.

Nestor got bumped out of the TB series to the Monday game with OAK, he had strep throat this week so he gets a few extra days. Brito gets his biggest test yet...

I doubt they are unlucky, given they have no real power, but the team BABIP must be hilarious. They had 1 hit through 5 innings today and zero Ks. Feels hard to do

They don't work counts, they just had the lowest number of walks in a 10 game stretch for a Yankee team since I think 1991. You can't strike out if you ground out weakly on the first pitch.

All of my current psychic sports energy is going towards the Knicks, or this post would definitely start a new thread.

Anyway, let's see what happens when we hit the regular season and the games start counting.

Wait, what?

I only watched the second half of this game but so many feeble outs in the Yankee lineup, everyone is just trying to put the first ball they can into play, not working ABs at all.

Also Peraza is their best defensive infielder, I get that he is dinged up but once he is not, play him at 2B please. There were a few DP attempts tonight where I was wondering if Peraza's arm over Gleyber's makes the difference.

Can’t watch this team right now. My best move was to bookmark Jasson Dominguez’s page and watch him develop. The kid is hitting .159 but his OBP is .386. He has 23 walks in around 86 trips to plate. OPS .702.

Aaron Hicks should not be on this team anymore. Sucks that you signed him to that idiotic contract, but cut your losses and move on.

Yeah, we weren’t the only ones who saw him this spring, another league who is collectively scared to pitch to him. He is the youngest player in that AA league too…

Not being able to get a run in from 3rd with less than two outs drives me crazy. Hicks is terrible in every way.

At the time, I thought the Hicks contract could be a bargain. Now I see it as a sunk cost and would be happy for the Yankees to cut their losses and move on.

It's sad (and including some bad luck, sure) that the Yankees haven't been able to get consistent production from LF for a while now.

Also even though Dominguez is not hitting at all (maybe starting to turn), he is 10 for 11 stealing bases, 16 runs scored in 21 games, even with just two homers so far.
