Bianchi resigned and called up to sit on the bench. Ross's roller coaster season continues. I'd feel bad if he wasn't pitching so poorly.

Reports last night were that he had elected free agency.  I wonder how much that played into the Sox plans?

Doubt it made a difference.  I wouldn't be surprised if they had every intention of bringing him back provided he wasn't snagged on waivers.  They've been playing with a short bench since he was DFA and there really wasn't a logically replacement for the bench aside from him (maybe Weeks, I suppose).  It's not as though Bianchi is irreplaceable, but the 40-man roster is kinda short on utility infielders outside of Holt.
