@MarkDivver
Ryan Spooner's been recalled from @AHLBruins by Boston this morning.

No injuries to note in last night's game.  Looks like they want to either get the 3rd line going again or Marchand going to watch from the 9th floor for a few games.

Peachy.  It'll be interesting to see how they squeeze him in.  It seems like they want him playing center, so maybe a bit of a ripple effect on the lines and lineup.  Kelly to LW perhaps?

Mark Divver of the ProJo is reporting that Spooner (and Zach Trotman) has been returned to Providence.

So we have had our first extended look at the NHL level. He averaged around 10:30 TOI/game and chipped in 11 assists, contributing on the PP. He certainly brings speed to the lineup and some play making, but I still think he needs to get a tad bit stronger and improve his 2-way game. He likely deserves a regular spot, but from an asset management perspective, returning him to Providence is the best course of action.

Chances are someone else will get hurt, but even if that doesn't happen he has a good chance of supplanting Thornton in the playoffs where every PP opportunity is crucial and Thornton really doesn't add much. I'd rather those 8-10 minutes be devoted to creating scoring opportunities and putting pressure on the opposing defense. I mean, Thornton is great and all but he only broke 10 minutes twice in 22 playoff games last season, and both were OT. If a series become particularly physical you can always throw him back out there.

Let's see Spooner score a goal like Thornton's tonight. Now THAT'S an offensive skill player.

Actually, I'd like to see Spooner score a goal at all. Any goal.

Spooner back up today. Looks like we're going to start seeing some folks being given a night off.
