Hello all,

I realize this is a bit out of the blue. I grew up rooting for the Red Sox in my youth and was never a SOSH member during those 2001-2006 years but remember posting on the Redsox.com fan forum's message boards and living through the wild 2003-2004 years.

Recently, I began reflecting on this and was wondering if those forum's are backed up anywhere on the web these days? I've done some poking around but to no avail. I remember reading at SOSH and some of the screennames (67wasbest, EricVan, MuellerTekTrotNixon) come to mind. These were awesome fan communities at the time and I'm sure they are to this day as well.

The 2003, Curt38, thread where he talked about the impending trade to Boston comes to mind that was on redsox.com fan forum's. Is that thread still online anywhere?

How far back do SOSH archives go? For example, is it possible to read threads from those early to mid 2000 years online here?

Appreciate your time and any help going down memory lane here. Via the wayback machine, this link is the closest I could get to those redsox.com message boards around late 2003: http://web.archive.org/web/20031203004038/http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/bos/fan_forum/bos_fan_forum_index.jsp

Curious what people remember about those days online and if any members are still active today! I posted under this screenname back then too.

I don’t post much but I’ve been here since 2002. Before that I was on the projo & espn boards. I remember Espn put something up on the main Sox page I posted once as the “post of the day”.

I know the 2004 ALCS game threads are backed up somewhere. But I don’t have the link. Someone put Sosh/nyyfans posts side by side in real time. Someone here has it I’m sure. I think the sosh Schilling thread is saved somewhere also.

I vaguely recall there was another Red Sox board filled with banned SoSH posters. For the life of me I cannot remember what it was.

I have all of the EzBoard messages backed up. There was a crash (one of the reasons that we left) but I found some cheese script that basically crawled the site and inserted them into our new forum software.

While I was importing them, a few assholes took advantage of the fact everyone’s password being reset and started logging in as randoms, which forced me to change course and stop importing and spend time dealing with that crap. But I still have the files.

Dunno if it was "filled," but DH3 polluted the "other board" regularly during his first ban from here. Spectacular asshole regardless of locale.

Does it even exist anymore?

Didn't Jerry Remy have a board? I hope that's not the off limit one.
I don't know about the Remy one, but I was a member of the other and would be happy to provide the name to anyone who PM's me. No idea why it's "off limits".

Looks like your PMs are shut off.

I remember BaseballBoards.com, which became FanHome.com…

I also remember this board spawned from the Dickie Thon fan club.

Going way back to like 1998(?) there was another forum called Red Sox Nation (I think). The only thing I remember about that board was there were a few trolls. One was a Yankee fan named Jersey Joe. The other was a guy named “sca” or “ska”, who also went by the name “MEGALOMANIAC”… and would shit post all over the board. Their posts were so smug and self-aggrandizing that I’m at least 72% it was Dan Shaughnessy.

There were also Masslive forums, which were trash.

Wonder if anyone else here remembers that stuff.

Didnt Red Sox nation get shut down cause the owner raised funds for a member event and ended up pocketing everything? I think they got sued. It was so long ago.

I was active on the old RedSox.com Fan Forum. That was a loooong time ago.
This and live music B+P (blanks & postage) boards were my B&B (bread & butter) way back. One of those moved to an updated and progressive format . . . and in the other, I'm here.

I was on the Red Sox Fan Forum page in the '03-'05ish years posting with the same or very similar name. There was a lot of trolling and topics could be all over the place but I mostly hung out in one thread with a core group of like 15-20 of us that would use that thread as a group chat. The thread was far and away the largest post count on the site due to what we were using it as and then it got killed due to a few folks repeatedly reporting it because of some trolls who didn't really like us. We'd just start another thread and keep going but at some point it just became too annoying to be there anymore.

The folks from that thread met up many times through the years at Sox games, had Christmas gatherings and one member hosted an ALS fundraiser in Fort Myers for a number of years with Curt attending. Some of the members ended up as roommates and there was one marriage that came about from that group (and I think one divorce - but different participants).

I was there for a long time. I had a lurker account here but was mostly there because I enjoyed getting perspectives from a wider variety of baseball fans. Then it was sold to scout-dot-com or something and it went to hell.

@scotian1 did you once moderate at a different Red Sox forum back in those days under the name ScotianSox?

edit: if memory serves me right, you used the same Scotian1 username. Completely forgot the name of the board though.

Kevin Vahey misappropriated a bunch of funds, but RRSN survived through that. I think it just sort of fizzled out as SoSH got less restrictive.

It wasn't RedSoxNation.net that was the board in question. I'd share more, but this is clearly something of a taboo topic.

I remember you being there. Don't remember many of the Sox board posters aside from you, skrable, and that ian1085 guy who always messaged me on AIM, trying to sell me on libertarianism. I have much fonder memories of the BBQ boards with Dodger Matt, Mojo Risin', those college age girls who were obsessed with... was it BJ Surhoff? - and even that rascal jpgretzky15.

I remember posting on the Red Sox Fan Forum a fair bit somewhere in that timeframe. That's where I learned about Sosh -- there was some resentment from lurkers who couldn't get over the sandbox hump so they painted Sosh in a negative light. Took a few months before I checked it out myself and saw that the info and analysis here was consistently better. I remember some names -- 67wasbest, Toofarawayfromboston, TruBluSoxFan, Nina, JimEdRiceHOF (I was briefly on a separate small forum with all or most of those posters and a few others - as far as I know it isn't the banned one.) There was a guy called JustWinNow I used to argue with sometimes. I remember your screen name DanOoOo , but I'm not sure if it's from there or here.

Projo.com had a great Red Sox board with Art Martone running things back in the late 90s. Pre sosh it was really one of the better places for quality Red Sox discussion.
