With the acquisition of Eovaldi and the uncertainty surrounding ERod, Pom and Wright, I figured the time was right to create a new thread to discuss how the rotation (as opposed to the overall pitching depth) will play out the rest of the season. Mods feel free to merge/lock if you feel otherwise.

Here's the listed probables for the upcoming home stand:

7/26 vs Twins: Johnson
7/27 vs Twins: Sale
7/28 vs Twins: Porcello
7/29 vs Twins: Eovaldi
7/30 vs Phils: Price
7/31 vs Phils: Pom

Extrapolating this out, it looks like the Yankees series will be:

8/1 vs NYY: Sale
8/2 vs NYY: Porcello
8/3 vs NYY: Eovaldi
8/4 vs NYY: Price (Sunday Night Baseball - No pressure there)

I like the insertion of Eovaldi before Price in the rotation based on Evo's different handedness and repertoire.

Per Cora on the pregame interview, no firm decision has been made on whether Johnson or Pom will remain in the rotation after the starts listed above.

There should be a lot to discuss as this plays out. Please have at it!

I'm hoping Rodriguez comes back healthy and effective so that he can be the other starter in the playoffs. I'd roll with a Sale/Price/Porcello/Rodriguez playoff rotation with Eovaldi and Johnson/Pomeranz in the pen. Eovaldi's stuff should play up even more in short-inning stints. Right now, I'd lean Johnson's way in the long-relief role.

Does the rainout change any rotation plans? Price threw what ten total pitches tonight. If he had not thrown any pitches then maybe he could have pitched instead of Johnson on Thursday.
