The Dodgers emptying their farm system to get Ohtani seems like an obvious move. They could use another starter and a DH, and they can extend him now but keep his salary for 2023 reasonable.

Ohtani leads the Angels in plate appearances and innings pitched. The last player to lead his team in both was Jim Devlin in 1876.

(Devlin became one of the first baseball players banned for life a year later for throwing ballgames and died destitute at the age of 34… let's hope this works out better for Ohtani)
