Russell Wilson took his helmet off.  Why were the Pats penalized but not the Seahawks?

Wilson taking his helmet off wasn't a penalty.  It has to be part of a celebration, demonstration, or confrontation.

R12, S3, A1(h):

(h) Removal of his helmet by a player in the field of play or the end zone during a celebration or demonstration, or during a confrontation with a game official or any other player.

Those pics of Brady and Sherman shaking hands at game's end looked totally staged and fake to me, given the complete absence of other players. It took me a while to realize they were not taken after the final kneel-down, but after the preceding play. All the other players are brawling in the end zone.

Yeah, I'd love more info about that because it looks staged to me as well.  Sherman is an emotional guy and great player.  His emotions got the best of him at the end of the last Super Bowl and we all know how he came across when interviewed by Erin Andrews.  I wrote it off as an extremely confident, emotional guy and was a bit pissed that the media made as big a deal over it as they did.  If he approached Brady at the end while the others were brawling and congratulated him, I'd like to see the media run with that.

I think you're thinking of the NFC championship post-game, when he went off on Crabtree and traumatized Erin Andrews. But yeah, I'd like to believe that he has some self-awareness and some class beneath what's become something of a made-for-TV character.

Watched this about 10 times now.  He is on a straight line to where he knows the ball will be.  Incredibly instinctual.  He was exactly in the right place at the right time.  Don't forget that Butler tipped the pass to Kearse two plays earlier on that miraculous catch but was alert enough to stay with the play and knock Kearse out of bounds or else it's 6. Butler really, really had a few moments there!

"Dogs Indifferent to Sports" would be a fantastic blog in the vein of the most excellent and very NSFW (so I'm not hot linking to it here) "Indifferent cats in amateur porn."

Some great Seattle fan reactions. A few already on here but new ones too. The guy at 1:21 looks ready for the emergency room.

This is pretty much the face I had on when the Tyree catch happened. Actually, same with the Kearse catch:

This video is one of my favorites because it's so much different from the others. There's no screams or pained exclamations of "No!". It's pure elation in anticipation of certain victory that is then instantly and totally ripped away and they're so stunned and unable to completely process what just happened that the only thing they're capable of is looking on in utter disbelief.

NFL Films already has an awesome highlight film, which is being shown on Inside the NFL. Just watch it if you can. Lots of mic'd up players - fantastic, incredibly moving stuff.

The pets really are incredible. They are all completely unfazed by any of it -- as though this is entirely normal behavior around their house.

Butler also had a nice tackle on a 2nd and 8 play after Seattle had the 25 yard pass play out to the 45 late in the 3rd. He was on Kearse the next play on the deep sideline throw. Kearse appeared to be in position, but Butler was right on him.

Fabulous game for the kid.

Yeah, it just showed on Inside the NFL on Showtime, and it covered the whole game.

Edit: Damn, can't find a link. It's airing again at 11:00pm EST.
It's unbelievable.

Yeah, those are some of the best moments from the game. The post game stuff isn't there yet - maybe he'll add it.  (Edelman embracing BB, telling him "I'd do anything for you, Coach." Edelman telling Brady he's the greatest quarterback in the world...)

Edit: And here they come...

And I hope this become the historical narrative.

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/02/bill-belichick-timeouts-super-bowl-seattle-interception-new-england-patriots-brilliant-seattle-sehawks

Bill Belichick ingeniously baited Seattle into that Super Bowl-losing pass
But calling timeout back at 1:02 probably likely would have caused Seattle to run the ball on 2nd and 1 to either score a touchdown or flush out Belichick’s final timeout. A pass would have been almost out of the question since it would have stopped the clock with, say, 0:56 remaining and put Seattle into a third down with New England still holding two timeouts. (Although, given Bevell’s night, I suppose every play call, including a punt, was on the table.) The Patriots would have been certain to get the ball back with around 0:45, but with no timeouts.
By the Pats not calling timeout, Seattle had the opportunity to throw the ball without fear of New England regaining possession. In essence, Belichick dared the Seahawks to make the most ill-advised pass in NFL history and the Seahawks were all too happy to comply.

I like the one with the coaches getting Butler on the field before the INT.

What's interesting about the double gatorade bath is that this is the second year in a row that there have been two. Problem is one of everyone's favorite prop bet is which color gatorade will be dumped. Last year it was yellow and orange, this year it's blue and orange (orange is the best, that's why.) Apparently they paid out on both colors last year, wonder if they do the same this year.

Thanks for the tip, this is great, camera angles on some of the plays are outstanding.

On the Brady INT in the end zone, Amendola was wide open.

Fabulous game for the kid.
The whole final drive was Butler.  As has already been stated many times on this board, this kid doesn't need to contribute ever again and he's cemented his legacy.  Obviously, I hope he improves and becomes a regular contributor to this team.

Julian Edelman was already one of my favorite Patriots of the last few seasons but the guy is now at the top of the list.  Brady is Football Jesus and Gronk is a modern day superhero but there is no doubt that Minitron is the glue of that offense.
