There are only three hours left, so who's next to priceline a ticket out of Logan Airport to points unknown?

I left Miller off the poll, because it's fairly obvious he's gone.

Drew will be traded in August. Napoli is the favorite with Buchholz second.

I think Victorino will be around next year as RF/CF depth, if not a starter. Certainly Drew at some point (but not today). I'm guessing Napoli.

I would've originally gone with Victorino, but getting Craig back in the Lackey deal makes me think Napoli might be going.  Can't see where Craig plays otherwise.  Wouldn't break my heart to see both Napoli and Victorino traded to contenders giving them a shot for a ring but also making room for Betts to play the rest of the year in the majors.

I think we can expect Koji to stay...the Sox even outright admitted it.
Edes said that they may be changing their mind, might want Miller instead.

Why isn't Andrew Miller an option in the poll?

I voted Drew ('next' could be after 4:00 p.m. today).  Napoli isn't going anywhere and Victorino and Buchholz probably have little value these days other than salary relief.

Guys are dropping one after another like at the end of The Godfather. Is Cherington at his nephew's christening?

JBJ, Allen Webster, and Rafael Devers for Cole Hamels.  Cespedes to CF.

OK, for real you forgot Mike Carp, unless they are going to DL Craig or Vic they have far too many OF.  I guess they could option Nava again, but more likely deal Carp for whatever bag of balls gets put in front of their face.

This team is going to be even more unwatchable for the rest of the season.  Even when I don't expect them to win, and when winning should rationally be taking a back seat to developing what's left of the organization after today's purge, I HATE watching them lose.  And, they're going to lose a lot.

I would think that Daniel Nava would be a guy they'd be actively shopping right now to teams looking for offense but without a lot of payroll like the Royals and Mariners.  I wonder what they can get for him.  They've locked him out of a role if they're keeping Victorino, Cespedes, and Craig.   Though I guess any of those guys could be traded in the offseason as the fantasy league Red Sox continue to take shape.

Lets see what happens when the dust settles.  Right now it makes sense like this:

Cespedes in RF.  Vic spells JBJ and Cespedes when Vic can walk.  We're left with a Craig/Nava platoon?  Craig is OPSing 600 v. R and 750 v L.

It's an upgrade.

Meanwhile Drew's still with the team.

At this point there is literally no upside in keeping Drew on the roster. Let Xander take his lumps at SS and see what we have going forward into 2015.

Any which way the Sox just got 100% more interesting for me.  Not that I wasn't interested to start the season.  But there's a hell of a lot to try to take in.  We may have a new set of quasi chronic headaches after today, in addition to our "who plays SS" perennial question.

Frankly, I'm a little surprised they haven't yet tossed in Drew as a sweetener, paid freight, and gotten something minor back.  It'll clear a space on the 40 and the 25.  Unless Marrero really is being groomed for 2015 and they don't want to rush him.

I know I'm in the minority, but I would be happy to see them sell high on Brock Holt Action Hero.

But my guess will be Koji. No need to have the #1 closer on this team anymore.

Why is there no value in having Xander take his lumps at 3B, which is where he'll end up not later than 2016 if Marrero keeps developing?

Do you like to watch home runs? Because it's very likely that there are going to be more of them.

JFC, you've been bitching all season that they threw away 2015 by not giving Ellsbury a gazillion dollars and whathaveyou, and these trades show they're planning on competing in 2015, and you bitch anyway.

Go away.

What is the rule about including a player on the 60-day DL as part of a trade?

Not as the primary return...but a cost-controlled Herrera replacement. Please?

Andrew Miller deal to the Tigers, which was close to happening earlier today, has fallen apart, source says.

I would trade Dirt in a heartbeat for some actual infield dirt.

P.S. - I posted this before the actual new of the trade.

That feeling when you go shopping and once you realize you've spent more than you planned and then it's just like.... aw, screw it, I'll take one of everything. Yeah that.

Apologies for sounding maudlin, but I feel a great sadness over the compete decimation this month of a World Series team, including the shipping out of a number of guys who had been performing well and/or were good guys. Are they better off, IMO? Not sure yet. Just sad - and if I'm Petey or Papi, perhaps, mad. Good luck, all, - except when facing the Red Sox.
