With the post-Wlad champs being even bigger, let's hope they finally make that sub 231 heavyweight division and a separate super heavyweight class.

Another bump for Garcia Guerrero this Saturday. It will get the ufc treatment and be on fox. On paper this looks like a showcase for Danny but with rest, off since August, I'm hoping Guerrero has something left in the tank to give Danny some problems.

Guerrero is a warrior - no pun - but he's got nothing left. Garcia will steamroll him, even though Id love to see him get got.

I'm watching this fight and Guerrero is fighting like he gets paid by how many left hooks he can eat

Edit: well in the 6th Garcia decided to also use his right hand in somewhat of an homage to Inigo Montoya

Edit2: this fox broadcast team is terrible

Edit3: this ref is a total dick

Edit4: they just interviewed Floyd and he says he has it for Guerrero. I scored maybe 1 round for Guerrero

I had Garcia winning but damn man, I don't see how you could only give Guerrero one round.

This fight was a perfect microcosm of Garcia's last 2 years of going from heralded to hated. It was right there sitting on the table for him to turn it up and be special and he was content with pot shotting and holding the last four rounds.

Also, Porter or Thurman will kill him. Not sure who they serve him next but he's not a real welterweight so he should avoid guys in their primes.

I hope they showed the Breazle and Mansour fight on TV, it stole the show despite a suspicious ending.

I wrote that before the fight was over. After I said it, the Fox guys score came up and he had given Guerrero 3. I might have missed something in one of the middle rds but I disagreed with him on one he had for Guerrero. Guerrero took the 12th.

Guerrero is a tough guy but I thought he was just walking forward and getting hit. Judges all gave Guerrero 4 rds. I didn't see that. Floyd favoring Guerrero was so funny to me. It seems if Floyd judged his own fights he wouldn't be undefeated.

Yeah take a look at the "great" TMT stable Floyd has assembled.

Back to Danny, every time I see him fight I wonder how in the hell he's undefeated. He's not active, slow as all fuck, and he is so damn wide and when he throws his hooks (his number 1 weapon).

I wasn't clear. I just mean Floyd's fights generally(for the past decade) as he fights backing up and landing pot shots (what Garcia was doing) and Floyd had Garcia losing the fight.

Right. Sorry. I wasn't clear either. Floyd fought and beat Guerrero. He never fought Danny. By saying Guerrero beat Danny, he's building himself up. That's all.

Bump for Kovalev Pascal 2 tonight. Other than money, there is no reason this fight should be happening. Pascal did a lot of things well the first time but took too many shots and he's taken some beatings in the subsequent fights.

He has tried to make the buildup entertaining by calling Kovalev out for some racist posts he's made in the past. At the final press conference, Pascal handed out bananas to all the black people in some weird way to show the world Kovalev was a racist. Kovalev has been very calm and reserved the whole camp so im pretty sure he's saving his aggression to try and end Pascal's life tonight.

Pascal showed a lot of balls last fight and he was competitive for moments, but Kovalev was trying to take his head off and might succeed this time around. It'll be a fun fight to watch, though. Whatever the odds are on a Kovalev KO, they're not long enough for me not to bet on it.

Fucking brutal.

Manny is fighting Bradley again, which should be entertaining. Kovalev v Ward sounds like it may happen in a year, which would also be tremendous.

So Canelo will defend the lineal middleweight title on may 7th, at 155 pounds of course, against.... Amir Khan. Lmfao

I like Khan and I admire his willingness to call out the big names and agree to this type of challenge.

But I look at this fight and I see nothing more than a better version of Canelo vs. Josesito Lopez, now with a PPV price tag attached.

Dan Rafael just justified this fight on Twitter by referencing Hagler-Leonard, which almost made my head explode.

Having Amir Khan compared to him is the first time I've ever felt bad for Ray Leonard.

Completely agree on the Lopez comparison.

The Rafael thing is why I only see him as a confirming/announcing source. He has a heavy agenda based on his personal relationships and slants his stuff heavily.

You ever wonder why, even without ever establishing himself as a ppv star, Khans name always came up with Floyd and Pac? It's Rafael. He always went out of his way to inject Khan's name into any story about those two.

Some action this weekend...

Frampton/Quigg (122 lbs): they've been chasing each other for the better part of a year. And there's some genuine hatred there from Quigg not liking his place as the B side. Pretty big argument at the final presser about who gets the bigger dressing room, seriously.

They both weighed in today:
Crawford/Lundy (140 lbs): a lot heat in this one. A ton of strong arguments and hold me backs starting at the first presser. This fight was made partly to lack of other options but also because Lundy told Crawford his girlfriend needs to workout more when Crawford told Lundy he should have been in better shape vs Herrera.

Leo Santa Cruz/Keke Martinez (126lbs): why LSC? Why? Coming off a good fight against Mares in August he takes this, on paper, easy W. This would have been a good fight 2 years ago. KM is tough so hopefully he still has something left to test LSC.

Ward looks good. Hard to tell on TV what punches are landing on him and what he's taking on his forearms and shoulders.

For me, he looked great. The first few rounds he got in some exchanges to show Barrera he was there for a fight but after that his defense was really good. Barrera is a one punch fighter, he took that away got some good rounds in.

I was impressed. Barrera (although unproven) is no slouch. And he also got caught a few times to make people wonder how he'd react if those were coming from Kovalev. So win win on all accounts.

Only downside was the annoying ass warriors in attendance

Yeah. Honestly, I think Id forgotten how Ward fights. He's got a more in the pocket defense and is more of a counterpuncher than a guy like Mayweather, so even if he's not making guys miss big doesn't mean he's lost a step. I think Kovalev beats the version of him I saw tonight though. Im a big SK guy though.

Jo Jo Diaz is an interesting fighter with a fun style. I've watched several of his fights as a prospect on Golden Boy cards, and this was a nice step up in competition. Not sure how far he'll go as a short fighter without a ton of power, but I'd like to see him again on HBO.

I watched the first half of the Ward fight and then skipped to Round 12. I'm a broken record on criticizing the HBO crew, but it was early in Round 2 and Lampley and Kellerman were already engaging in a drawn out discussion about PFP lists and hyping a potential Ward-Kovalev fight, completely ignoring the live fight they were supposed to be calling.

PFP was once just a term used to start a subjective debate about who the best fighter in the world was, now it's become this completely mind-numbing waste of time that HBO uses as a marketing tool to dress up boring fight cards. "Sure, this is going to be a one-sided whitewash, but Fighter X is listed as #2 on someone's made-up unofficial PFP list, so make sure to tune in!" Lampley even went so far as to discuss how Ward's inactivity may have made him "ineligible" for various people's PFP lists, as if there are official eligibility requirements on these things. It was painful.

Ward-Kovalev is a very good matchup, and is close to a 50/50 fight, which is a rarity these days. I favor Kovalev. Ward is the better boxer, but Kovalev is not the type of one-dimensional puncher who can be easily outslicked by the Hopkins and Wards of the world. He's a skilled boxer with a very solid left jab, who just so happens to also have devastating KO power in both hands. He also has a very good trainer in John David Jackson, who was a crafty southpaw middleweight contender back in the 90s and really knows his stuff when it comes to putting together a gameplan.

Unfortunately, despite being a good matchup, Ward-Kovalev will likely bomb on PPV, just as Pacquiao-Bradley III will in a couple weeks and the Crawford PPV will this summer.

Put some money on Manny to win a decision. Got even odds, so I hedged it a bit with under 10.5 rounds at +250.

Under 10 rounds would be great for us all. This fight has some sneaky Marquez Pac 4 potential.

I hope we get fully engaged and caring Manny. The one we haven't seen in years.

I expect Bradley to look more to the body than in the previous two fights. For some reason, I really Tedy things they can wear Manny down and bully him late.

Undercard should be good as well. Ramirez gets his first real test and I think Oscar Valdez opens the show.

Really intriguing bout between Ramirez and Abraham. I think the undefeated Mexican doesn't have enough to compete with the Champ, but the challenger is fighting at "home".

Abraham seems to be on his way to figuring out Ramirez, then gets caught flush on an even exchange. Dumb mistake by the German. Got careless and threw a hook completely opened and paid for it.

I've never seen Ramirez box but so far not impressive. Besides that one punch that connected, he doesn't seem to have any one particular strength. The punches are loopy with awkward pacing.

As ordinary as Ramirez looked, Abraham is fighting a horrible game plan. He's not getting Ramirez to open up nor cornering him effectively.

Abraham needs a knockout to keep his belt with 4 rounds to go.

Round 5 was good. Wish they'd shut up about Manny's shoulder. I think he's just swinging it like most fighters do.

hey Max. You don't throw a lead hook against a conventional counterpuncher. Have a fight and learn some shit.
