We're one week out from the home opener...and I hope folks don't mind me starting our annual photo thread...I was in the Fenway area on Friday, and swung by to see how things are going. Apparently there were no major renovation projects this year, so the annual rush to get everything done isn't quite as fierce. They do still need to lay down more of the warning track dirt...

Looking forward to seeing everyone's pics...and here's to a better outcome...

This is always one of my favorite threads of the year, as I tend to have a really hard time getting back to Massachusetts during the summer, and haven't caught a game at Fenway since 2007.  Thanks for keeping it going!

Nice low angle, may try to catch the flyover on opening day again if the weather is decent.
I'd love to see what you would take, cause you are masterful with those pics.  But, do you think there's going to be a flyover this year?  I thought those were on the list of things that were being cut, due to the budget issues in Washington...

(I hate to be greedy, but if the best plays could happen *before* the sun leaves the plate area, I'd be happier...)

New job for me this year has limited the Fenway experiences. And I seem to have missed all the glorious walkoffs... until last night.

I have no words. Good thing a picture's worth a thousand!

In celebration of the pinning of the thread, here's a bit of a catch-up on photos I could have posted!

Allen Webster's debut April 21; snuck into a seat that wasn't mine for a few shots.

And Steven Wright's debut, on April 23; it's almost nice to remember how cold I was that night in today's 90+ heat.

On to May 12....

MEDIC!

... and Jose de la Torre!

[And thanks to Lose, for the PM alerting me to my heat-delirium-induced creation of that hybrid prospect, Steven Webster...]

Of course, if you know me, you know my heart's in the minor leagues...

... even if sometimes you shoot major leaguers. Papi showing on 4/13 that he was in great shape, getting back to first on a fly.

Rubby, Rubby, Rubby Rubby So-- I mean, de la Rosa.

Lots of reasons to be happy that Brandon Snyder's doing well, but that fact that he does things very photogenically is high on the list for me.

Mitch Maier PawSox walkoff April 13

It's rare, but sometime the arty impulse overtakes me. (Chris Carpenter.)

Being locked in at the plate never precludes the bubble. (JBJ)

Bit of a bobble on Snyder on this catch, but he didn't need the hopeful face to record the out.

The light at McCoy... sometimes it challenges, sometimes it illuminates. (Justin Henry)

oh, I'm glad this thread is re-opened. I love your shots SS.   You do  a great job with the action shots.

Here are a couple from last Saturday against the Rockies These are taken from behind the net, so a little funky when viewing the pitcher.

Here's Doubront:

Thanks for those, ChinaCat2!

Now I'll go back to thread-hogging... ;)

Hit a couple of minor league games since I last posted, though admittedly I'm still backlogged on those games. July 7 I trekked to Portland, hoping to catch Garin Cecchini, whom I'd missed when i went to go see Salem. Oh, but, hey! Salem!

Kyle Stroup

Blake Swihart

Stefan Welch

Henry Ramos

1. Kids took the field with players--this Blue Rock swept up his youngster instead. Hilarious.
2. Best stirrup socks ever.

William Cuevas

I honestly didn't notice this awesome fence decor in Wilmington until I got home with the memory card.

Matt Gedman: "THE PITCHER WILL NOT COVER THE BASE! I MUST DIVE!" Nate Striz: "Hey, I'm... right... here."

Keury De La Cruz.

(more Salem)

So, anyway, Portland. I did see Cecchini, at the plate

(there was a bat, really)

and in the field.

And there was more, like

Keith Couch, and

Rafael Perez (I start with pitchers...), and

Fraternizing! (Tony Thomas and Reynaldo Rodriguez)

And there will be more--way behind on that game...

amh, I love that shot. It was a beautiful night, and I was at that same game. Here's a different view...we were up in the monster seats

We had a particularly fine view of Dreamboat

Just getting around to working on photos from my trip to Portland back in May (the 18th to be exact).  Great walkoff win on a grand slam by Matt Spring, his second HR of the game.  Ran into Kelly (sittingstill) at the game and she has some amazing shots.  I liked this one that I got of recent Sox call-up Xander Bogaerts on the basepaths.

And not the best shot I've ever taken but Matt Spring watching the winning HR go out in left

edit: one more of the team greeting Spring as he arrives home.  Great energy in this shot.  Yes, the jerseys were pink that day.

Some pictures from last night

Sox Shortstop, Circa 2030? (Both the Drew boys and the Doubront boys were adorable, and were running the bases all night. And practicing sliding into home into a heap)

Click on any of the pictures to get to my album which has more.

Thanks for those pix China Cat. I was particularly happy to see Jon Lester smiling and goofing off in them, as he was in the couple of hours of post division celebration NESN showed. Let's hope the pouting, complaining on the mound Lester is gone and this happy one is back for good.

Incredible shots and views in this thread.  Fun to look back from the beginning one with the grounds crew getting ready to spread the warning track dirt to the shirtless Napoli and champagne.  Boston Strong.

I did shoot the ALDS games, but I'm going to say that Anne has it covered and move on to a few from last night. Warning: high ISO a-go-go!

Jose Iglesias signing for some happy young fans.

Dave Roberts in the house means magic in the air!

I was grateful for a Buchholz Fenway start.

Well, I guess Vic thought it was funny, whatever it was.

Max Scherzer.

Thanks to the general delirium I got very little of the Papi slam (though I could see Hunter flip over the wall and immediately thought, I hope someone I know nailed that shot...). I did find it amusing to go through what I shot frame by frame and watch the fans around me pogoing in and out of view!

Koji!

Mayhem in 3... 2.. 1...

Sketchy quality, unqualified joy. I'll take it.

Not the angle Shane wanted on that bunt.

Or the result.

And a race to the bag that Jacoby did not want to lose.

But fortunes would soon turn.

Those are OUTSTANDING, Kelly!!  I was hoping you were there last night...terrific angles...thank you!!

I was not in the Park last night (bummer), but took a trip down this morning.  Like Costanza, I was pleased to see the banner...

I also got a kick out of this along Yawkey Way:

As usual, Kelly, your photos are outstanding.  I'm jealous of your seats. I was in section 8, and had very tall, very mobile people in front of me. No action shots were possible, as there were heads in them. As it is, most of these had the heads cropped out :)

Bill Mueller threw out the first pitch, David Ortiz caught it.

Thought I'd share a couple more (going to have a crazy weekend and not sure if I'll get any time to work on pics).  I thought what someone did to the Teammates (and other statues) was pretty funny:

And of course, I had to get a scoreboard pic:

There will be more...I roamed around quite a bit...wish last night was the same result (maybe they should give me a ticket to all the games for good luck?)
