Looks like we get that West Coast road trip out of the way really early.

(p.s. As of this second, I only see the schedule through June 13, but supposedly the full schedule is available somewhere.)

It's odd, it's as if they're still entering all the data but released the highlights anyways. Every time I go to a new page, a little more of the schedule gets added. Sox are in Canada for 4th of July.

West coast trip at the end of August sucks, but at least it has a day off before, after, and two in the middle.

Start with 4 games at Safeco and 4 in Oakland, where the Sox usually have a tough time playing. That's not a pretty start of a season.

We've got four games scheduled in Seattle during March. I have a feeling some of those August off days will be needed to make up for rainouts.

You know Seattle has a retractable roof, right?

But yes, the August off days may be needed for early season rainouts in Boston.

Another home-and-home with the Phillies? Is that going to be an every-year thing?
Odd numbered years they are the “natural rival”. The only reason the Sox played them this season is because the even year “natural rival” is the Braves, and the Sox played both as part of the regular interleague schedule being ALE vs NLE this season.

Yeah, the “natural rival” thing is dumb.

Im just glad we are finally in PHI on a weekend. Assuming we are still here, I can actually go to one of those for a change.
This was my thought as well.

The month with the most home games is April with 15, usually the worst month for weather. And isn't it unusual for Labor Day to be an off day?

Six 2 games series seems very weird. That's a lot of traveling back and forth.

Very California-centric home schedule. I like the part about no home games early (weather-wise).

Just like this year, the Sox will play the Orioles and the Yankees every month.

Including Spring Training this year the Sox saw Baltimore once a month, every month, from February through September. The same with NY except, March through September (who knows about October).

what the hell is this Friday day off before a September Philly series?

there's been a couple Wednesday days off this year, but I think Friday should still be untouchable. Of course the London series is an exception I'm not upset about.

I also don't know how with the London thing we got the brutal west coast trip literally to open the season. Reminds me of 2008.

There's a ton of away games in September despite that west coast opener, too. This schedule kinda blows.

I like starting the season with a West Coast swing as it takes one away from breaking up the season later when travelling would likely take more of a toll on the players. Also the beginning week of the season tends to have a lot of day games which makes watching these easier. I think this is particularly important in a year that they play the NL West in interleague (8 away games to add to those normally scheduled at Sea, Oak and LAA). Surprised to see that the season begins with 11 consecutive games without a break though - don't ever remember starting off without days off to ward off potential rainouts but I guess only Oakland presents the possibility of rain.

The other thing that stands out to me (besides the sheer awesomeness of two games in my home city) is that the Patriots' Day game is scheduled to follow an away game in Tampa. Normally it comes at the end of a home series - I wonder if they'll move back the start time from the traditional 11am?

I moved to LA a year ago. Enjoyed one game of a sweep in Anaheim this year, but couldn’t go to more because it was a midweek series during a busy work week. This year, the Sox are here on Labor Day weekend, the one weekend of the year I know i’ll Be back east.

I very much appreciate your sympathy and understanding this is all about me.

by the way, no Pats games here last year or this (and I believe next) either, despite two teams in LA now.

Similarly, I have 3 road destinations left before I can say I've seen the Sox play in every town - Cleveland, Detroit, and Toronto. The Sox play @ Toronto and Detroit in a juicy back-to-back series opportunity July 4th week, but it's immediately following the London trip. I'm planning on going to London, so pulling off two straight weeks of Sox travel is going to be a non-starter in the marital conversation.

I love that open to the season. Get it out of the way and never travel further west that KC for the rest of the season.
