Different venue, same results, please. They are expecting some lightning in the area around game time. Judge is pretty tall. Maybe he should stay in the dugout. Send Verdugo out with a metal bat though. Nah, everybody stay safe.

Hopefully Houck returns to his dominant form. I didn’t like his last game and hope to see no more of shit like that. That sort of shit can go fuck off!

Series 29: SOX at YANKEES
I think we are better. There’s no figures to fudge.
This Yankee squad’s not much more than Soto and Judge.
They’ve been erased from first place. I still see the smudge.
They’re below the O’s now, so let’s give them a nudge,
and hope that they plunge further down into the sludge.
There’s a pennant to chase. Let’s continue our trudge.
It won’t be easy work. We will still have to drudge.
We’ve played New York tough, though. There’s an edge to this grudge.
They may act like Bronx Bullies, but we never budge.
Swing and hit them hard just like Varitek and Pudge.

Has anyone ever seen a raccoon and Tanner Houck in the same room together at the same time? No? I thought so. Just saying

It’s nice to have a July Sox-Yankees series that not only means something, but also reminds me how much I fucking hate the muther-fucking yankees and they’re dumb fans (except the ones on SoSH, they are mostly respectable people).

We're five and a half games behind these motherfuckers.

We play them in a series.
Then we play Oakland while they play Tampa Bay
Then we play KC while they play Baltimore

If we were to gain one game on them over each series, we'd be two and a half games back, an extra game or two ahead of KC, and heading into the ASB in great shape for a decent wild card spot.

Wells isn't any better at slowing the running game. Trevino has thrown out 10 of 46 base stealers (22%). Wells has thrown out 6 of 30 (20%).
I am increasingly convinced the Yankees are just using money to cover up how fucking stupid they are.

I know the MFY’s have been hit by injuries lately but it’s shocking to see how that lineup is Judge and Soto and pretty much nothing. I think Volpe will be good but he’s really struggling after looking great for a while

As of now this seems to be the Sox best offensive lineup. I hope we see it at least 2 out of the 3 games.

I'm guessing we won't since tonight is the only time the Yankees are starting a lefty. Presumably that would mean Smith will be at 1B for those games, and Hamilton and Abreu will get worked into the lineup also.

There is very little reason to give Judge or Soto anything to hit. Only Verdugo (703) has an OPS over 700. No one else is even slugging 400.

It's pouring here, so I checked NYC. Seems to be "showering." Don't know if that will delay the start of the game.
In any case, GEAUX, SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!

Live shot on the pre-game shows that they are prepping the field as usual. No tarp. Also, radar appears clear for a couple hours at least.

I know I'm the only one, but I'd prefer it.

It's not even the booth, which is fine; I am getting really sick of NESN's stunningly low production values. Not only is it not in 4K, but the color is weirdly oversaturated, and their digitally-inserted ads are broken ~50% of the time, sometimes glitching distractingly into the batter. We all pay kind of a lot to get these broadcasts, and they are delivering a distinctly mediocre value.

it’s almost like ownership is trying to exact where the supply and demand curves meet…
