Do we play SF this year?  If so, his OBP in those games will be sky high - what with all the fastballs to his dome and all.

The NY Times had a write-up on him detailing all the abuse he took after the Posey collision, as well as his not-so-rosy upbringing.

Florida's 3rd-round pick in 2006 (#95 overall), he battled a slew of unrelated injuries from 2008 onward (bulging disk, hip, ankle) but managed to remain in the top half of BA's Top 30 prospects for the Marlins for five seasons. His most recent appearance in their rankings was also his peak (9th heading into 2012.) After putting up a .296/.364/.459/.823 line in 61 G (262 PA) for AAA New Orleans that year, he was claimed off waivers three times in six weeks (Jays, Mariners, Angels). Last season he struggled in just 52 G with AAA Salt Lake City (.233/.310/.306/.616, 46/16 K/BB in 220 PA), missing 2 months with an ab strain. He was also hitless with a walk & 3 Ks in 5 PA in early May for LAA. Cousins turned 29 on Wednesday.

FWIW, from the 2012 BA Handbook:

"Solid tools across the board, projecting as a possible .280 hitter with 15-20 HR if he can work his way into the everyday lineup. One of the best athletes in the system, he has the speed to steal 20 bases ans enough range to patrol all three OF spots. His plus arm is strong enough for right field. Cousins' bugaboo throughout his ascent has been a lack of consistency, which was only exacerbated by a bench role. When he's cold he tends to chase pitches out of the zone."

He sure seems like a guy worth rooting for to have a couple of Darnell McDonald moments in the sun for Boston, but I suspect he'll wind up as this year's Mitch Maier with the PawSox and nothing more.
