According to the Lawrence Eagle Tribune, the Sox are looking at bringing baseball back to Lowell. But first, there needs to be some improvements made: $40 million worth. Though the club might be able to get by with $6-7 million in improvements.

Back to Lowell?

In any event, I'd love to see baseball back in Lowell.

As the article notes, there are numerous financial and logistical hurdles to clear, and even then having a Single-A located so far north of other teams in their league is far from ideal. Still, Kennedy is saying what he has to say politically, and if all of the stars aligned I'm sure the Fenway Sports Group would be more than willing to move their Salem franchise to Lowell, likely at terms that would be very beneficial to ownership.

Those are going to be some long bus rides back from South Carolina road trips. It might make a few high school draft picks decide to go to college instead.
