I need more Chicken Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once I snagged that Pedro '55 Clearly, I of course hunted down the other Sox and thankfully he had one:

60538

I also grabbed this the other day.

60539

I'm really going to try and limit myself to Stadium Club and Clearly Authentic cards for a while. I can spend billions on those two lines alone anyway, but hopefully it'll help me focus and tighten my collection some.

@Tim Salmon That is an awesome card! I'm a big fan of retro designs and that one is done really well. Super-rad.

Keep 'em comin', let's color up this thread with our treasures!

You can use this site to see accepted offer prices: https://130point.com/sales/. It sold for $170.

The seller took a shot, but ended up just slightly higher than the recent comps. The price is actually pretty high given the obvious chipping/flaking on the bottom edge.

1 off from 58/, JoeP. Birth year numbering would have been (even more) awesome. These are some sweet cards. I wish I had more disposable income.

I live off my military retirement right now, but am working my way through school to try to get a real job that makes real money someday (Computer Science program). Pretty sure my celebration gift for myself when I finally get that real job is going to be a case of something baseball cards.

Haha I try not to pay *too* much attention to that sort of stuff. Buuuuuuuut I did grab this for a friend:

60542

As for me, if I get lucky and get something fun like the #1, or a uniform, or the last number, or something silly like #69...well that's cool but I certainly don't go hunting for them. I've seen some auctions go bananas just because of that number haha.

I'm putting together an order to send off to PSA for the first time. I'm considering sending this, which I got back in 1997 when me and a friend saw Pete Rose and Mike Schmidt eating at a restaurant in Fayetteville, AR. Once they got up to leave, of course my buddy and I accosted them and got them to sign four of these:

60543

They weren't happy about it, it was cringey as hell, the whole place was staring, Pete grumbled and said "You know this is costing me money". But we got four of those bad boys! So rather than keep it in a top loader, was thinking of getting it a nice, PSA slab. That same buddy lives here in Orlando as well, so I'll likely grab his and send it off in the same package. I have around 8-10 cards I want dual-graded, so I'm going through all the pricing and whatever. I hope the cards come back as 10s of course, but they're all for personal collection so I'm good with whatever.

Wow, interesting. Thanks for the site, I'll bookmark. They obviously were shooting for the stars, and I also noticed the flaking on that bottom edge. Was pretty distracting and disappointing, honestly, for a card presumably pulled fresh from a pack. But I guess those chrome-types can be like that? Still, I would absolutely take that card! It's an interesting price for sure. It's hard to gauge right now I feel since this product is still relatively new and that card is popular and we've only seen a couple variations hit eBay. I needs that auto box topper!

You'll get there! And when you do, you better live stream this case opening! Speaking of, I'm totally serious about leading a break. If we get enough interest in something, we can make it happen. I'm down for anything.

Definitely in for a break and I think we could easily fill 30 spots. If somebody has the video capability and wishes to take on shipping everyones cards, I think they would get a free spot much like we did when @Petagine in a Bottle ran it. But it seems like a lot of work! Topps series 1 releases soon and would not be expensive.

I think you meant to tag Portagee Express!

I’d definitely be down to be part of a break, though :)

I hope all is well with PE! As I said before, he hasn't been on in a while.

Mail day has been incredible around here lately. So this is the 1956 Topps Ted I bought that was labeled as a 1959 Fleer:

60568

My first vintage Ted, it's my favorite one, and I am pretty stoked about the condition. Gonna add it to the "ship to PSA" pile!

LOL. Pete Rose has signed approximately eleventy-billion items in his lifetime. And it's not like you were going to pay him to sign a fucking restaurant tab at a card show if he didn't do it there. Those didn't cost him shit.

I remember when I went to some automobile convention or something like that with my father when I was a kid. Bobby Orr was there signing posters for free on behalf of some company. Anyways, I go up there with a stack of posters and start telling him "Oh, and can you sign this one for my sister...and this one for...". After 5, he said "That's enough, kid."

Edit: I actually think it was some kind of construction convention and the Bobby Orr posters were produced by Ace Hardware.

I've been trying to finish the 2022 Topps Archives 1953 Fan Favorites set. If you're not seeking any of these for yourself, please ping me if you see them out in the wild:

53FF-DJ Derek Jeter /35
53FF-I Ichiro /35
53FF-JS John Smoltz /50

The Vlad Sr., Ichiro, and a couple Wander Francos are currently listed on eBay, but the prices are too high for me to pull the trigger. I

I’ve been inspired by these setups, so here’s what I mainly collect (sealed video games, mostly Sega Genesis) and my setup:

That old Sega retail kiosk is a trip down memory lane. Those things used to be all over the place. That also reminds me how big Sonic was in the 90s and how weird a legacy it has. So many mediocre games since the Genesis era.

That video game setup is NUTS. Congratulations!

I mostly collect sports memorabilia (autographed pictures, balls, etc.) but have recently started picking up some cards. I got a 2012 Leaf Best of Basketball Bill Russell Auto, a SAGE Rob Gronkowski auto, and I am currently saving up for my Holy Grail...a 1980 Larry Bird/Magic Johnson/Dr. J rookie. I am not looking a PSA 10...would be perfectly fine with a nice PSA 5 that better fits my budget.

I have been selling off some other items to be able to make this dream come true. Trying to sell my collection of Woodstock tickets to put towards this dream.

The video game set up and the retro styled autographs both blew me away., I gotta up my home display game.

In my own card news, I finally got the last 1953 Bowman I needed to complete the set, so once that is in we'll be at 160/160 and I'll have to rig up a workable photo show off for it. After going through it, only 10 of the 160 ended up below my quality level (which was functionally an "authentic" grade with some real flaws - and only two somewhat pricy ones. Another 40 or so fall into the "I'd like to improve them but not my biggest priority". The Mantle and Reese were both PSA2 (Mantle was a marked so PSA1 in reality but both of the major issues with the card really don't bother me), so I think I'm pretty settled on those for a while.

The next set build is the 98 SP Chirography autograph list. The bad news is that an absurdly priced Griffey is at the center of it and a tough Gwynn is also in there, so it may not be a complete set build (I have a pricy Griffey rookie already, I'm not moving it, and I don't need two) but I hope to get close. If anyone happens to have any sitting around let me know.

I'm starting to get the breaking itch again. I kind of had a rough last week and wanted the thrill of gambling without really leaving the house, so i threw in some break bids on eBay and grabbed a couple cheap teams (IMO for what they had in the set) in a six box Topps Chrome Update break. A few things...Topps QC on this set is wild - some cards were WAY off center, the color hit (if a box had one) was always in the bottom packs. Second, the return on these are pretty terrible. I saw one color or auto per box that wasn't the purple in each pack, an auto in every other hobby box (all three were um...not so great, and I got one of them)...Topps is insanely fortunate the checklist is stacked or this product would've suffered the same wrath as regular Topps Chrome did. I think the Mariners (Julio) spot went for like $250 or so (ebay) and they got two Julio purple which seemed like the upside unless you get absurdly lucky. And I think I got lucky - got an auto (28 year old reliever who got a cup of coffee woooooo), my key rookies in a purple and base, and didn't break the bank on the slot. But man, that's a singles product if there ever was one - buy your card and walk away. All that to say...if we do a break again let's not do Topps Chrome Update

Does anyone have any experience buying from Sports Card Junction? They are 100% positive on ebay, but I came across their website due to the fact that they are at least $10 cheaper than anyone else for the 2023 Topps Series 1 Jumbo Box ($150). That seems like a great price.

I have used them with no issues. Go for it and report your results!

@SuperManny Man that card rules. EB was so awesome, and him and Greenwell in the outfield is a fond memory.

@Fishercat dude yes post pics ASAFP cause we needs to see that completed set. And I'm with you on a break. We'll get a thread started soon to get the ball rolling.

I was a little too young to remember most of his time with the Sox but I already had a Greenwell rookie card so it was nice to pick this one up. The upside of the junk wax era is that even the highly graded cards are relatively inexpensive.

Yup. There's a handful of guys that get hobby boxes and stuff and sell close to retail. They're one of them.

Thanks guys. I know this year’s rookie class in Series 1 isn’t too exciting outside of Adley R., but I paid $215 per jumbo box two years ago at release. Not sure why hobby and jumbo prices are down and retail is up, but I’ll take it.

Probably something to do with the big box stores like Walmart and target stacking way more retail, but my brain isn't advanced enough to know thr exact correlation.

I think it's a bit of the hobby cooling down from its absurd peak and that you can still pretty easily find 2022 Series 1-Update if you want to. They don't want it to be Target scarce and they probably had to lock in print runs early on, but they also don't want Blowout chunking Hobby boxes down to an absurdly cheap rate later either. Just a guess.

will do, I'll get an Imgur album going. Others have way more impressive versions but I had a lot of fun hunting down the right cards for me on this one

What is everyone's best cards? I think it would be fun to share some of the cool cards that everyone has.

Mine are some cards passed down to me from my father (first picture) and some other cards that I picked up along the way (second picture).

I wouldn't even know where to begin to post some of my cards. I have millions, and I mean that literally. I do almost all of my selling from my office at work, so I always have a stash laying around on my desk, on counters, on the floors. This is the stuff that isn't on floors at the moment:

I apologize in advance but, I am not able to read through the entire thread right now.
Just starting to look through some of my old cards after not having touched them for years…...what is best way to determine value these days? I have just looked on eBay for a few of them (Bonds Topps Rookie, Nolan Ryan Rookie) and I find some.
Can’t find this one anywhere..

Tried to upload but says file is too large..2018 Topps Now Steve Pearce WSC-6C autographed and numbered 26/49

Just getting back into the card game but last time I did anything the only resource was Beckett's and that they don't seem to be that relevant anymore

Thanks

Topps Now is tough because there’s so many. This may be your closest but it’s lower numbered and a base relic.

Thank you for the reply. The photo/card I have is different but I'll keep looking around . Probably not worth much anyway since after all, it is Steve Pearce. Thanks anyway
